I'm glad I'm sorta single. I can't get in trouble for buying more cars.I just picked up an 89' Ford Mustang GT 5.0 with a 5 speed trans. The previous owner replaced the entire suspension to the tune of about $3000. I have the recipts for what was installed. It needs some body work, a new paint job (blue with a white rally stripe), some new rims and tires, and some interior work (all off it needs to be replaced). The engine needs a new battery and coil but it ran 12 second 1/4 miles before being stored. With a bit of work I'm hoping to have a 10 second car. I'll post pics of it when I can get to a real computer.

yeah good thing you are kinda sorta single..you can't afford any women in your life, not with all the insurance payments you make anyway.

What is this insurance you speak of??? :) actually I'm getting rid of one of my cars to make room for this one. Probably the 4 door Jeep that I can't make street legal. I'll put the Chevy V8 that I got in my driveable Jeep and keep the Festiva. But I haven't decided yet.

You sure do have a funny collection of cars. Maybe I missed it in another post why can't you make it street legal?

Awesome! You can never have too many projects
Any pics?

What kind of mods does the engine have? A stock 5.0 won't run that fast.

Ok, about why the Jeep isn't street legal: It needs a wireing harness out of a 96' or newer Cherokee. It doesn' have the OBDII port inside the car. I also need the PCM too. It won't pass an emissions test around here.
Second question about the 5.0's mods: it has a cold air intake and an exhaust system, other than that, the trans was regeared and it has been severly lightened. As in only important interior parts are still inside the car.
The slip I saw for the car showed high 12 second run, just under 13 seconds.
As for pics, I have some but I need a computer to post em up. Cell phone just can't do it.

Hey fishnjeeps
I agree that it's not really all that hard to run 12's with a stock 5.0 motor (in good condition) Have one myself it's about as you described yours. With just 3:73 gears and a strict diet plus alot of suspension mod's not to mention drag lights with 555R's it ran a best time of 13.42's @100.9 with a 60 ft of 1.9 on about a 3000 rpm launch could have maybe went into the 12's a time or too but I wouldn't run it no more then 5800 rpm's, but run consistent 13.50's, I always drive it to the track so that's one reason I didn't hammer on it to hard. LOL!
Anyways this is my first post on here and I just thought I would reply to your thread because I've been debebting on selling my 90' GT 5.0 5-speed so I can get a jeep cherokee and just thought that this was funny because you might be selling your cherokee because of the mustang you just got.
Been learning alot from you guys and appreciate everything everyone post because from a jeep point of view I'm clueless. Sorry about rambling on and high jacking this thread but anyway I too would love to see some pics of your new toy fishnjeeps, and maybe I could be of some help to you about the stang?
