Could that article be any more redundant?

If he sues, it's taking things too far. The officer made a bad call (judging from my armchair) the sign was quickly returned and the driver should just let it go.

X2 on what Loaf said
Bad call on the officer's part, stupid sticker on the drivers but he is entitled to stick whatever he wants on the back of his car, even if it is idiotic

Not entirely true.

Anything that looks like it could be a direct threat to the president (regardless if you like him/her/it or what) and you'll be quickly visited by guys with bigger badges and bigger guns then the local po po that stopped him originally.

I think everyone who had a "Bush countdown calendar" should sell them to those of us who are now counting down to the end of the Obama administration.

Oh yeah, why couldn't Morgan Freeman run for president? I liked his views better then Obamas. LOL!!!

Yeah, the Secret Service did pay him a little visit. They found nothing, of course, but still, these guys are just doing their jobs. Yeah, maybe the first cop over reacted a little, but he didn't really do anything wrong. After his departments Internal Ivestigations unit got ahold of the case, they called the S.S. What happened to better safe than sorry?

That is probably why he did not run.:)

In this case, the guy is needlessly posturing (and giving money to a lawyer  ).

Do you have any links? If he is anything like his movie characters, I could make a consideration in voting.

I'm sorry, but those who say the police were right in this matter couldn't be any more wrong. This is as much a First Ammendment issue as any other.

Because the PD was looking to get out of what could be a sticky situation, they gave the sign back and made a public speech about how it was only a misunderstanding. Didn't stop them from sicing the Secret Service on the guy and his family though.

Not only was this mans First Ammendment rights violated, so was his privacy. Until Obama is out of office the SS will always keep an eye on him.

The officers in question need to be re-educated as to Constitutional Law and probably should be required to have a dictionary with them at all times so that they can look up those big, scary words like: Abort (to stop, to end, to terminate) and harassment (to pester, to persecute) before they jump to conclusions.

The guy did the right thing (in my opinion) by contacting a lawyer (and I despise lawyers). I would have too. I also would have been a little more resentful of the SS wanting to search my home. The man did nothing wrong.

We have allowed our rights to be eroded away year after year for so long that when it happens, we blame the victim. Wrong. And to think otherwise is foolish.

If he were to have been arrested, he definetly should have got a lawyer.

Admittedly, I originally breezed over the story. Since the secret service went through his house, that is an invasion. After being initially contacted, the secret service should have just  and told the Oklahoma City police to get lost.

And this is not on the (Clinton Network) News? Why? Where is the transparency of government we were all promised?

I think we're all missing the big picture here. There's a guy in the article named McCool. That's sahweet!!!

Ironically, there's a comedian (can't think of his name at the moment) who does an amazing impression of both Obama AND Morgan Freeman. Maybe HE should run and please everyone on this thread? lol

I think those of you who think you actually have rights once the cia and secret service and possibly the fbi get involved are saddly mistaken.

Yes, you have the illusion of rights. But, reality is... you don't. They can make you disappear and make people believe you never existed.

As it happens, I know Morgan, I met him on "Glory" and he got me my job on "Driving Miss Dasiy".

The man is VERY smart... (no not because he got me a Job !)

Agree with jason on this one. While there are different types of protected speech (fully, limited, and unportected) in my opinion that sticker falls under the fully protected category, which means that this mans rights were definately violated.

on a second thought, maybe some of the people who are wiser than me can explain how he is going to be able to sue considering the priniciple of soveriegn immunity, which in most cases prohibits citizens from suing the government.
