What would you recommend as mods for a woods trail vehicle. Most of the time my Jeep sees action in my friends woods and his fields, just curious what y'all recommend. Theres some mud, some smallish/corvette sized rocks, lots of branches and trees....
And yes this is all his property and they're trying to turn the woods into a field so no worries to illegality.

armor underneith..cant go wrong with any and all skid plates...if you have SUA, then really consider armor for your U bolts/leaf spring plates..bugger them up, you will need a sawz all and torch to fix em...skid plate under the oil pan is a good thing..also for the front and rear pumkins..

X2 on skid plates
Corner guards, safety equipment, maybe a winch, bed line the inside of the tub (favorite mod...) rocker guards
Depends on however much $$ you wanna spend
Mods? Have a short CB antenna or at least, get one that won't catch on every branch in the woods. (Don't ask how I know about that one :/)
As far as stuff to bring with you, having a saw and some work gloves is handy since you never know what tree has fallen. Yeah, they make for good obstacles but not if they're at chest height because they landed funny.

Protect the underside.
Don't waste your $'s on "skids" for the ubolts - Do a u-bolt flip/conversion.
And relocate your lower shock mounts on the axle.
Here's a "before" pic before I did my axle swap.

Here's an "after" pic taken after my axle swap

You can do it for both the front and rear axles.
Can make your own or Dynatrac sells them.

protective eye gear. you don't want swinging branches hitting yours or your passengers eyes.

After all this talk of trees and skidplates, does anyone have the pic of a TJ (or JK) where a small tree knocked sideways skewered the driver's floorboard?:eek:

It was a JK. The search term "JK tree floorboard firewall" brings it up in the first result of a Google image search.

Re-route the exhaust in front of the oil pan. I climbed over a downed tree and trees being slick my tires just slid right off the other side down onto the exhaust and ended up cracking my header in 5 different spots.

Yeah, i still have SUA and where can I find the UBolt skids or is it hard to make some? I'm on a limited budget so its tough. When i think bout it, a big portion of the time i devote to recovery is when i get my UBolts and nuts hug up on a stump and they just kinda sit there on top and i gotta get the jack out jack up the tire and hit the gas, or saw through a stump, not fun
