I just bought a 06 TJ Sport, and first off I love it, secondly I want to put a 2"-2.5" lift on it but not sure if I should go with a body lift or suspension lift. I don't to alot of muddin, but I like the looks of a liftted Jeep. Any ideas? It will need new tires in about 6 months so I figured that is the best time to do it all.
Thanks for the help

Good thinking on pairing your selection of lift with tire selection. Don't go for a lift for looks, but get what you need. Granted, a 4" lift with 30" tires looks unstable (maybe because it is), but get something that you will not have to rearrange and spend even more money to "make it right for you".
Hook up with a knowledgeable group of wheelers for trips (just like swimming, never go alone) and get to know your level of comfort of wheeling. Then make your decisions as to what you need.

Go with a 2" BB (Budget Boost). You can get them for about the same price as a body lift. When you install a body lift more than 1" on a TJ it looks like SH*T. There are several large gaps that there is no way to cover up. When I first got my TJ I put the BB from Skyjacker on it and it rode great. Hope this helps.

which lift you want really depends on what size tires your wanting to run. you can fit 31's on a TJ stock, maybe a 1" body lift just for a little extra tire clearance. if you want 33's you can do this with a 1" body lift and 2" coil spacer lift... actually ran them with just the 2" spacer lift for a long time, lil more rubbing than most people like, but gave it an awesome stance.. any bigger and you will need an actual suspension lift..

The 2" Budget boost is a great start. I am partial to the Skyjacker with Hydro shocks. Very easy to install and makes a hugh difference. Then if your rocking I would suggest putting on a 1.25 JKS body lift for added clearance on the tires. If you still need more articulation you can get some new fender flayers that have a smaller than stock profile. (you can get another inch or so from that)
FYI the shocks that come with the 2"BB from SJ are compatiable with 3" lift as well if you ever swap out the Coil springs for some bigger ones.
I'm trying to suggest the best clearance and articulation you can get for cheep, and keeping the center of gravity as low as possiable.
But i'm gunna warn you now that you are gunna want a D44, ford 8.8, or ford 9 axel if you are rocking around on 33"s or better. I broke my d35s just trying to get out of my parking spot on a record cold day. They really arnt strong enough for Jeepers

Go on Quadratec.com's user rigs, and pick out which rig you think you like the best and see what they have done to it. Then go from there and adjust your wants and needs.

smokeeater... what an idiot... ha us North carolina guys give each other hell all the time... i actually just put the new RC 2.5" progressive rate kit on my 2000 tj but opted to get the skyjacker hydro's instead and i went with the rear trac bar bracket, and as the springs are breaking in it rides better and better, almost 300 miles on the lift now and its about like stock i'm putting 32 11.50's on it on stock wheels, should get the tires on in a few days picked up a set of bfg mt's new for 600 shipped, the old ones not km2's.

i'll tell u this, don't let "us" sway you, its your jeep make it look the way you want, that sets it apart from the rest.
