I recently lost fifth gear in my Jeep the other day, what can cause a sudden loss of a gear. By losing the gear i mean when i put the shift lever where fifth should be, i have no resistance and the engine revs as if in Neutral. ANY HELP is appreciated, i have no clue where to start.

The c-clip holding the gear on the shaft is missing. When this happens the gear can slide around and will not engage.
