I may be wanting to much out of my rig, but i would like some kind of lockable storage.. for the past two years my jeep has not been my DD but now it is again... Problem is i want the option of putting in my back seat from time to time, also i am a music junkie and have subs behind my back seat so an instatrunk isnt an option... want to fabricate something to possibly use a toolbox as the bottom of the back seat, or maybe smaller bucket seats, just any kind of storage options that still give me the flexibility of putting my back seat in in the rare occasion that i need it... any ideas??

Won't work, thats where i have my subs at... it needs to be where the seat is, just easy to remove..
then again would possibly be able to use it if i installed it in front my my sub box though... will this fit between a TJ's wheel well?? not listed as a vehicle it fits...

I used the seatbelt mount to bolt it in so I can swap in the back seat whenever need be. $35 at Farm&Fleet

I picked up a Storage tote from Wally World on the cheap. it was deeper than the above and pretty well construction. Heres what I found recently

or you may want to go with something like this

or

I personally like the rocket box, last one listed. It has dense foam blocks kind of making it seperate compartments. Go to a hardware store and buy a hasp and some nuts and bolts and you can easily make a lock box. Then you just need to figure out how to go about mounting it into the jeep.

I'm sure it would, it's 35" at the top. Isn't the TJ wider between the rear wells?

It is a kind of a pain to install. have to remove the seat brackets and get different bolts for the seat belts anchors. limited storage. where the latch is located illiminates the center two inches of the drawer for storage. stuff slides around and gets behind the latch making the drawer hard to open. I had to get small plastic boxes from sears and use velcro to prevent things from sliding. Tuffy does make a taller one but you cant use the seat and they also make one the extends to the tailgate but is is not offered through qtec. does keep tools hidden and locked up.

It was my idea and its great. 2 sheets of 3/16 steel and a piece of 1 1/2 angle iron. The top sheet is cut so that it rests on the fender wells and is bolted down. The verticle piece has the angle iron welded to it and it is bolted to the top piece. Two people can stand on this with a little flexing. The tire is held down by circle of 3/16" steel with a piece of all thread with a nut welded on top and a giant flat wing nut that is accessed underneath the deck. When the tailgate is locked anything inside is almost impossible to steal without grinders and/or oxy/act torches.
