lol... so, as the thread title says, I'm stuck here! I drove up to visit my g/f before she comes back to Philly (I wanted to see VT as I've never been here before). So I loaded my bike in the truck and headed 450 miles up here & my rear brakes are metal on metal! Of course, since this wasn't planned, my g/f has to work 1-9 most days this week.
Figured I'd check out the Ben and Jerry's factory tour while I am here, and do some hiking... but damn is it hot! 103* back home.. 99* here. This is oppressive. Anyone have recommendations on things in the area while I'm here?? Rt. 108 was gorgeous btw...

I always thought Doc was more of a Five Guys type of guy. I dunno if he could handle five guys though.

Isn't there a sea monster in the lake there?

It's funny you ask. On my way up here I was thinking to myself "****, I saw something on the Discovery Channel about some Loch Ness type monster in Lake Champlain" - Champ! lol.

too bad you werent stuck in burlington wi, you could come over to my house and drink some of my beer!!!
Dude, you're a half hour from me!
Where are you staying? (guessing the gf's place but where is that?)
Things to do/see:
Magic Hat Brewing
Ben & Jerry's
A bunch of hiking around the area
Church street has a bunch of good places to eat and drink
Two restaurants that I recommend are The Vermont Pub and Brewery and Ri-Ra's. VPB is just off Church St. and Ri-Ra's is on it.
While you're in Waterbury for B&J's, go north another 15 minutes and you'll be in Stowe. Lots of good roads up that way.
My phone number is in the MC, give me a ring. I'm not sure what the wife has planned for us tonight but I might be able to talk her into going out.

Hey man, I had no idea! I'm staying at her place (NO A/C!!) in Burlington, just across the river from Winooski. Since we didn't plan this, she has been working every day this week 'cept Sat, Sun & Weds. On the weekend we took my bike up 15 to 108. We took 108 through Smugglers Notch (did some hiking and such), then took that to 100S. We then took 73 I think? West - Mountain Road. It was incredible! And eventually back to 116 and into Essex Junction then back into Burlington. On Weds we took the Toll Road in Stowe to the top of Mt. Mansfield. We hiked to the Nose? Whichever the highest point is - it was gorgeous. We then headed back into Burlington and went to the Shanty on the Shore to eat/watch the sunset. Amazing once again. We did pass the factory tour - probably 5 times now. She is on call tomorrow from 5-9:30, but we may hit up the B&J Factory Tour during the day - that's still up in the air though.
Oh, and last night after she got off work we took 7 and 2 North, then took 2 all the way across the islands, up near the Canadian border. Then, realized it was late, lots of wildlife, and our shields were completely bug covered, we turned around and headed home. What town are you in if you don't mind me asking you? You can PM me that info if you prefer. BTW: My g/f doesn't turn 21 for a couple months (heh), so no Brewery tours or drinks.
PM sent.
Sounds like a good driving tour of the area! Yeah, you did pass B&J's a few times.
Just don't drop your wallet, you'll have to kick it down to Weston to pick it up. :rotfl:
