I am trying to plan a camping trip and need a destination. I live in the Chicago suburbs and would like something thats within a 5 hour drive or so. If its possible to find a place with some casual wheeling it would be sweet. sadly i will be taking my WJ and my friend has a stock XJ. so just dirt trails and cool sights.

yall have any ideas?

In Indiana:
Turkey Run State Park
Pokegon State Park
Hoosier National Forest in Southern Indiana (has some trails)
Brown County State Park in Southern Indiana

Oh, one more thing. Last time i went camping we were at a place in wisconsin that yelled at us about everything. Sure we are college kids but we were keeping the music down and yea we were drinking but lights out at 10:00pm? really? thats obnoxious.

So another question is where can i find a campground that doesnt have strict rules. or where we will not be bothered. I want to camp to get away from people not to have a tent 10 feet from them.

holy hell 10:00pm? On my days off (especially when adult beverages with buddies are involved) i dont shut it down until at least 1am. i do understand keeping it down but damn.

Most of the state parks in Indiana that I have been to are pretty cool. Especially if you are there on a non-holiday weekend and aren't packed. May of them have "primitive" camping for tent campers that is away from everything else.
