Suggesting a Nuclear explosion to cap the gushing well...

EX-Prez. BILLY WILLY is suggesting conventional explosives...thank God he's the EX-Prez....

Lets see...set off a high yield Explosive over a HUGE HUGE HUGE flammable reservoir of OIL, mixed with HIGHLY volatile poisonous methane?
....

Radio active poisonous Methane follows the Shock & Tidal wave.

I have only heard the idea floating around but I don't know how it would work. From my limited knowledge, there are three types of explosives; incendiary, concussion and nuclear. Concussion explosives are used in demolition including blown surface wells. I am not going to discard an idea until there is some logical explanation as to how it would work. I need to run this by my petroleum engineering brother...

They are discussing conventional explosives and Nuclear has been mulled.
Seems the Russians have use Nuclear devices 3 time in the past for this sort of thing.
That according to a U-tube interview I watched.
At least in the atmosphere incendiary, concussion and nuclear all have FLAME present,
at least EVERYTIME I've seen them go off.

Now granted, this would be miles below the surface and an additional mile below water..
Still, I'm suggesting something akin to the a BIG BANG !
I'm thinking the resulting Tsunami alone will make Katrina look like summer breeze.
And that, would be around the entire Gulf rim !

I'd be very interrested in your petroleum engineering brother's input !

I am too. I have put in the inquiry right after I posted..... I am wondering if they would put a few devices in an area around the leak, discharge it and let the sea floor cave in around the leak....

I can't stand to listen to "Slick Willy" so I did not see the entire clip. Besides, his nick name can actually be associated with oil. While in office, he got more money from the oil industry than you could imagine. This can be found in SEE NO EVIL by Robert Baer.

IF you'd like to see some good info, check out the thread on Pirate in the Chit-Chat titled "Horizon Deepwater Rig Disaster" (or something close to it). You've got to sort through alot of BS, but there is one guy on there, beleive his s/n is SuperCrew, that is actually currently working at "ground zero", and has posted alot of useful inside knowledge.
If I get around to logging on to Pirate later, I will post the link.

OK, here is what I got back....

no - there would still be a hole in the ground that would have to be plugged - it would be a really big mess. they will have it mostly shut off in a couple weeks. no other problems.

This includes the question of a natural gas eruption.
