View Full Version : DE - C&D Canal
In the area of Bear, DE, the C&D Canal is full of trails that (as far as I've seen so far) are pretty much easy riding. Fun, and usually other people around to talk to, help get you unstuck, whatever. Watch for signs of crossing onto private property though, some yards aren't very well marked.

Thought the canal area was off limits. Would like to know for sure. I understand there is a map available from the state listing where you can 4 wheel but not sure where to obtain it. Any ideas?

Most of the canal area is off limits! Be careful or you might wind up with a ticket. I don't live in De. anymore; moved about a 8 months ago. ...unless something changed in the last few months...

just about all of the land on either side of the canal is protected wildlife area and you will get a ticket if they catch you. a lot of the local boys go down to the levies in chesapeake city right off of MD 213. there are some good hill climbs and lots of mud. post a message if you find any cool (and legal) places in delaware.

I too heard that it was rather illegal to go there with jeeps or mororized vehicles.
Pleas prove me wrong because I would like to go.

ive been back there a couple times...and know others that do. it does say no off road acivity on the sign anyone have more info??

The only area you can have a vehicle on is the graded gravel roads. Any trails or mudholes are off limits and it is enforced, I was warned once after going there and not knowing so I will never go back on the trails now.
