im taking the jeeps wheeling down around houston and galveston, does anybody know of any places? where can i drive on the beach?

Last time I went to Galveston, this is how I got on the beach:
Take 45 to Galveston Island(obviously) and take a right onto 342, then right again onto 3005.
Drive alllllll the way down the Island until you get to the extreme south side where you get to the toll bridge, okay... right before you would go onto the toll bridge, take a left onto the gravel road that appears to go back toward the highway. It is either there or a bit further away from the toll bridge on the (left side as you go south), but on that side you can drive up onto the beach.
I don't think you need a pass or anything. There isn't much to drive over, mind you, but there are some good water fording opportunities.
