I'm in Charlotte...about 70 miles East of Uwharrie. I'm out there once in a while and when time and money permits, I try to head out to Tellico.
I'm a member of the Carolina Trailblazers. (http://carolina-trailblazers.org) smile.gif
As for gettin' together...let's do it! Just pick a time and place where it would be convenient for all of us. smile.gif

Does anyone know what the side mirror laws are in NC? I am getting soft doors and want to know if one or both are required...or none. Thanks
77JEEPCJ
12-03-2001, 10:10 PM
i think the mirror law is atleast the driver side mirror(thats all i have)...anyways if you guys check out our yahoo club site i belive a few of the guys(and gals) are going to Uwharrie this weekend...i know that UNF closes from DEC 15 till April 15 so some of the members are wanting to hit the trails there one last time for the year.....some of the people camp there they have a pretty good campground(arrowhead campground)....i cant make it cause i got to work but we would still enjoy you guys coming up >.. a couple of the senior trail leaders from the club should be there to(they arew also the senior leaders of the club)

I would be there in a heartbeat if I didn't have to make the trek to Illinois this weekend. I am bummed I am going to miss it. Thanks for the invite though! I have been checking out the yahoo club and the website. Just one question..if someone wanted to join the Carolina Jeepsters what are the dues and such, I couldn't find it on the website. Thanks.

so far there are no dues/fees..but we do have fundraisers etc for the club funds such as car washes and BBQ's etc...we also fab our own rocker gaurds and sale them for $100 a set(installed if you have your jeep with you at the time)...they are very strong and tehy wrap under 2" so you can use a HI lift on the side of the jeep with no problem...."Great White" the jeep on the club pic has them and he hasnt gotten any more rocker damage since installing them...(that club pic is also at Uwharrie)..think we might start doing a few raffles also(just have to get together with a couple of other guys to get it together) dont know what yet but will probably start off relatively small(nothing major yet) and things that could be used by any jeeper not just a TJ or an XJ or something.... they ride in hopemills(next to fayetteville) just about every saturday night most of the members are from that area(alot are in the 82nd airborne at Bragg and are on High alert)..if your interested in hte rocker gaurds just put up a post on the clubsite and let them know

Actually I just made my own out of 3x4 angle iron and 1/4 inch thick. They work pretty well I used them at Attica. Several times. They aren't really pretty like the sun performance rockers but they get the job done. Looks like I may have to get active in your club if you will have me. I would liek to wheel with you guys first because I have seen a few clubs that after i saw a few of the members attitudes I decided I certainly wasn't interested. They seemed more interested in acquiring damage than having fun and wheeling. I know damage happens but I drive my Jeep daily and am loooking to have fun, I like to drive my Jeep not fix it. I am sure you understand that. Not saying you guys are like that just want to make sure.

I can understand that...we try to keep everything Family oriented(some of the women even wheel the jeeps) and often even bring children along....most of our jeeps are our daily drivers even though alot of them are modify a great bit...we have a few members that came over from the"rowdy boys" club in fayetteville cause they were always just wanting to get rowdy and drunk while out on the trail....while a few of us drink we never drink while out on the trail...only at camp etc afterwards....get ahold of haley(hellbot69) or terry(heepay) they are the co founders and senior trail leaders of the club.......great guys and are knowledgable about most jeeps(especially TJ's) and haley is building a CJ since his wife took over wheeling his TJ..haley can often get good prices on mods too

As far as mirror laws, as long as you have one mirror facing rear, you are in good shape. Law Enforcment suggests that the rear facing mirror be the one on the windshield.
I would be interested in a meet and greet, all I need to know is a date, and I'll get it off from work.
I hope by summer my rig will be ready for Uwharrie. Need springs badly. As diver mentioned, I am not looking to acumulate more damage than someone else, but a bent fender doesn't scare me either. UNF is a good place to get damage if your not paying attention. Bent the crap out of the front bumper of my Blazer out there once.

NC DOT says that you must have a rear view mirror and a driver side mirror. I asked a
W-S police officer he said they would never stop you for not having side mirrors unless they thought you were up to something then they would use it for probbable cause to stop you. So I figure it is just best to have it on. :D

Justin, Good to see you back. I am glad things are coming together for you. Last I heard you had mentioned selling the Jeep I think.
77JEEPCJ7, the pass side spring in bent pretty badly. I still wheel on it, but the mud holes around here don't pose as much of a challenge as Uwharrie.
I am going to get a Rusty's Offroad 3.5" when money permits. Need to get the hub assembly first.

hello everyone! I know bobby, and have met diver through carolina jeepsters, but some of you others I do not know. so I thought I would help bobby in greeting you! My name is todd. I've got a small, yet capable 97 TJ. If I can help anyone let me know. yesterday that Beast 40 and I put some 5.5" springs on his jeep. its very big. I've got extensive training working on cars, including most of those things they say only a proffesional should do. so if I can help I will smile.gif
happy holidays
