i went in virginia last summer, it was ok. it would have been much better if it didnt rain. the rain was so bad that one of my tril rides got cut short and the other got cancelled. :(

I've heard it is going to a different venue this year.

Scuttlebutt around here is that it's moving back west to Missouri . . . .

Last year the rumor was about moving it back to Colorado. I liked Virginia. I have been to two Camp Jeeps now and had a good time at both. The rain sucked last year. I will go again next year.
Missouri is a shorter drive for me though. I have family in Oklahoma.

I Have also herd that it was going to be out west this year. I hope not my wife & I got a 95 cherokee sport in late summer. We have never been to any Camp Jeep or a jam and just can't wait to go. Any helpful hints for a couple of new comers???

Being in branson, makes it a lot easier for me to attend. THere is no way that I would have made it all the way to VA.

Not to damper anyone thoughts on Camp Jeep, but I went to last years event and was very dissapointed. The rain probably had alot to do with it, but all the venues and activities were for alack of a better word "lame." Its really not ment for any hardcore jeepers, trail rides arent that tough and really dont challange any modded out jeep. The only good thing was seeing other peoples jeeps and talking to other owners. What it gets down to is that your paying good money to talk to other jeep owners. You could do that in your own state with local clubs. I say save the $300 plus room and board and use it for mods or a better vacation. All the people in my group said it just really wasnt worth it.

The wife and I need a vacation and we look at camp jeep as a way of getting away other than going to all the tourest traps. Never been to the Ozarks and who knows you may run into some one that knows other trails than the mild one's. Plus it's a lot cheaper than a Jamboree. I refuse to pay the Price of a Jamboree when most of the places you can go as a club or a few friends. Here in Ohio there's not to many places to go except Wellsville and that gets old after a while.

To any interested in going to Camp Jeep in Branson........depending upon exactly where the camp is being held, try to AVOID staying in Springfield MO and making the 30 mile trek to Branson each day. The two-lane highway AT BEST SUCKS!!!!!!! They have been "working" on it but last that I heard that it was still the longest 30 mile drive in the world......tons of traffic, SLOW MOVING BLUE HAIRED GEEZER TRAFFIC going to see Andy Williams or something. In and around Branson, there are many places to stay including resorts around Table Rock Lake. Hope this helps for those going. smile.gif

GeeeZ! I was thinking about seeing if any people from Southern CA would be interested in driving back for this yrs. event. I've never been to a Camp Jeep event or to the Ozarks. But after reading the posts, I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble to drive 3/4's way cross country. Any you S. CA folks got 2 cents on the idea?

i agree.

i think it is a one time thing. you have to do it once, but i dont think it is worth going every year. it would be much better if they let aftermarket vendors in to show off thier stuff and give out info. here in PA i would rather go check out PARAGON to replace the camp jeep trail rides and the BLOOMSBERG 4x4 jamboree to see all the vendors that you dont get at camp jeep. vendors seem to know more about the jeeps then the factory trained jeep people who are like trained pets that give the same answer over and over. like the guy i asked about my trac-lok problem and he didnt know what it (trac-lok) was.

Hi, I'm new here so hello to everyone! I agree with BlackholeTJ, we've attended the last two Camp Jeeps, we enjoyed the first but last years was a big disappointment. Rain and the fact that our accommodations were awful. You sat forever on the trails because everyone was getting stuck due to the rain, miserable comes to mind! The first year Camp Jeep 2000 was alot of fun, the entertainment on the last night was awesome the best fireworks display I've ever seen. Last year with LeeAnne was awful. We still haven't made up our mind about this year but I'm not sure a 20 hour trip would be worth it. We did meet a very nice couple the first year and met them there again last year, that was nice. Is anyone else from MD planning on going?
