Green, you know I would never take you anywhere other than trails that are like interstates. If you should get a little dust or dirt on your ride, either myself or one of the Hooter Girls will wash and wax your jeep. It's been pouring rain all night and it's in the high 40's, so there may be some residual moisture.
Pontiac, I'll make sure I send you pictures of what you missed while working on the snow thingy.

DOH!
remember, i still have to drive the green thing to work on monday.(im working on changing that though) my dad is getting rid of the cj so i wont have a nice reliable backup vehicle. but that does mean there will be an extra parking spot at the house for a new daily driver for me.
hey, are you planning on visiting the plane crash site?

Could you guys stand a "virgin" to the pines?
This will also be my first outing since the conversion, so I'd like to take it easy. If there's any stock vehicles going, I'd probably stick with them.
What kind of stuff do you guys encounter out there? Lions, tigers and beers?

where are you located in PA? i could meet up with you and go together. im also stock, dont worry they will take care of you. you dont have to go through the nasty stuff 90% of the time. usually you can go around it.
no lions, tigers or bears. but piney tells a mean alligator snapping turtle story. the only things ive seen there where a few hawks, snakes and tons of deer.

GreenTJdude,
I'm south of you. I'm in Prospect Park, Next exit south on 95 past the airport.
Which bridge do you take to get there (Pines)? Maybe That would be the place to meet?
I'm not stock, but like I said, it's the first run since the conversion, and There's an aweful lot of stuff that didn't go quite right, that needed to be "engineered", ALOT of electrical splices...
I just spent $1000 getting my rear diff rebuilt, I just put my new sail cloth top on yesterday, Still have some linkage trouble with the transfer case, though it shifts fine, it sometimes tries to shift itself (need longer linkage and time).
But I have been wanting to go on one of these Pines runs, and this is the first time that I haven't had something else planned.
Let me know. Thanks.

hmm, I may be able to swing this one, as long as nothing major comes up I may join in as well!
Got Mud? will be there, unless something dramatic happens! Just need some new wipers, and we'll be good to go!
As for going around stuff - absolutely - besides we always need someone to pull me out of the really deep stuff! If you don't have any hooks installed though, now might be a good time!
Depending on how the PA set is going, we might be able to caravan - I'll either be in Flanders, or possibly Bethlehem PA Saturday night - depends on how my day goes.
Piney - hit me offline with a contact number so I can give you a ring!

I have hooks, and a 20' tow strap so pulling people out shouldn't be a problem.
Piney, I'd appreciate a contact number as well, or contact me off line, and I'll give you mine.
Either way.
One last question... How many of you are bringing their significant others along for the ride? Is that a good idea, or no.

jeepnhog,
i got over the tacony bridge. im sure there is a better way for you to go then to come up this far to go south again in jersey. i dont think there is a problem bringing the significant other. at least ive never seen that being a problem.
as far as recovery, you guys still need to show me how to use my winch ;) and possibly kill my battery in the process.(i still have the original 600amp, going to replace it soon.)

I go right off of 539 where the Warren Grove Gunnery Range is...right near where that F-16 went down yesterday. But interested in finding the spot where you guys go to take my friends. Would love to join you boys sunday but I got tickets to the Boat Show. :D

Girlfriends/wives/significant others are only welcome if they don't mind getting dirty!!!

I'm no longer retired and I am always up by 5:30am anyway. Old habits are hard to break you young whippersnaper!
All spousal units are welcome as long as they don't mind a comfort station behind a tree. I asked my wife if she wanted to go and she just gave me the usual,"are you nuts?"
In regards to the question where do I go in the pines? There are 1.1 million acres in the Pinelands Preserve and we try and hit as much,at different times, as possible.
Oh yea, so you new guy's will recognize me here is my pic.

It looks like we will not have the pleasure of seeing the top of Zachv's roof poking above the water level of most holes. It’s a shame cause he swims real well! His brother is visiting so he has to stay home and cook, clean and do the wash, or something. He also said that he might get a chill and get mud on his new boots. Load those kinfolk in that red thing and bring them out.
Green, I know how worried you get, so I have decided that when we get to a trailhead that you should lead. Only way you get to learn the trails and play clairvoyant at the same time. In this way if you pick a bad line through a hole (like I do) you can wave at us as we take the bypass. Besides we want to see that new winch in action.

ill be out again, dont worry! we still have to get piney stuck real bad so i can winch him out. i think in the spring ill be out a few times and maybe next month with some of my friends with their stock rigs. the girls had a blast and they said they need to visit a chiropractor after that long stretch of whoop dee doos along the tracks. next time ill make sure im in front of russ so i can hit some of the bigger holes before he tears them up. i have to get to the power washer real soon too and start pumping the iron for all the buffing i need to do when the weather gets nice tongue.gif . thanks for leading us down some great trails! why didnt you tell us the bear was there? i could have gotten it on video smile.gif some of the video turned out good. ill try to make a few copies of it. the only thing that got missed that i wanted was my second try on the hill climb, the videographer had the tape on pause by mistake

Sorry to have missed all the fun, I could not make it cause something drastic happened!!! A tree feel and took down all the electric wires with it, was waiting all day for PSE&G to give the thumbs up.. But it's now 9:45pm and still no electric, it was getting pretty cold in the house so I packed up and moved in with some family members for the night. According to the local fire dept. Maybe sometime Monday the power will be back on.. Must have been a big TREE. Any one wanna try and climb over it???

Wheels, all you have to do is remove your 35's and unlock your diff's and then we can get more stuck pic's of you. BTW, in the parking lot pick your right in front.

Hey guys! I had a fantastic time out there with you all. My girl had a blast too. It's about time that I got to meet some of the faces behind these message boards.
I would recommend the Pines to anybody in the area, regardless of the "condition" of your rig. Good learning experience too.
As soon as I get my pictures back, I'll post 'em up here, or email them to somebody that can. (I haven't had much luck with that lately)
Anyway, PINEY, 89Wrangler, GREEENTJDUDE, and the rest of you...THANKS!!!!!

UUUUGHGHHHHHGHGHGHGHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! I'm dying seeing these pics! Dammit, no matter what I'm there the next time there's a run - please make it a Sunday again (next Sunday, hint hint)!!!!
That stuff looks DEEP! Unfortunately, we only see pics (usually) of people stuck - I know there's always lots of success stories out there too - and that's why I'm so bummed!!!
Grrrrrrrr...gotta' get my priorities straight!

Oh, and for the record, the JYD only needed a double tug once!!! Got Mud? hasn't even needed winching yet!
Let's not talk about the CJ5 nearly bouncing you on your soft top!!! smile.gif

i unspooled my winch at lunch time to re-spool it. to my surprise it didnt have much sand in it. the small kink that was in the cable came out when i put tension on it. i cant even tell it was there now.
i was able to make a copy of my video tape from the day. the quality isnt as good as the original was, but it still looks good. there is about 1/2 hour on it. if anyone wants a copy, let me know and ill make a few. greentjdude@home.com
i forget who wanted the copy, i have your bizz card @ home. ill call you next time im up in the oxford valley area. or email me and ill call you sooner.

Came out pretty good. Looks like I'm going to have to watch Piney a little closer on these rides. He told me he twisted his ankle stepping out of the Jeep, now I really know what happened to him. Watch out croc hunter here comes Piney.
