I'm an expert (ha ha ha) the family and I have been to (2) Jamboree's. Signed up for our third for this summer in PA.
Good time was had by all, if my wife had fun, you gotta figure it was a riot. You will meet some great people, eat some great food, and wheel some great trails.
When you sign in the first night, you will be put into a group ( color) thet group will stay together for the weekend. The groups are formed by how difficult of trails you are taking on. Each group has a trail guide (front of the group) and a tail gunner (rear). The guide and gunner will spot over obsticles, etc. CB is a must, alot of info as well as some good natured joking goes on during the faster(ha ha) sections of the trail.
Pay attention to the guide and tail gunner and you will get through without damage. I watched a guy from FL. on the trail in Murphy NC. blow off everything the guiude said. When he left the trail (quit early the first day and never came back)he didn't have a straight piece of sheetmetal on the vehicle. None of the rest of the group got as much as a scratch.
Most of the "manly" jeepers I have talked to whine about the jamborees, but I met a lot of folks that had good clean fun!.
Hope you have a good time.....get some photo's and post tham when you get back.
I donno Nut, That's a steep price. What do you get. The Mohawk Trail Jamboree (Oct 18) is on the same trails I can use free. It doesn't look as though you get anything for that amount of money.

I have to agree with rit that $200+ per person thing seems awfully high for what appeers to be not alot you have to figure a family of four will cost $1000 approx. for two days of wheeling kind of steep dont you think?

Well, they are geared more toward people who haven't done a lot of wheeling. The two I have been on had very helpful guides (trail leaders), not that I needed help. tongue.gif Plus this price includes seven meals. Plus you get to meet a lot of new people. And prize drawings! smile.gif

I am looking at the Jambo in the Ozarks or Land between the lakes in Kentucky,Both are within striking distance of me, Anyone going or has been to one of these, I think the Ozark one is new but Land between the lakes has been there before? smile.gif :D ;)

Where do you stay when on a jam?I have a place in the Poconos 10 min from Jack frost and might consider renting to a jeeper family. What does the price include?

I've been on 6 jamborees, so far. Lodging is not included. I find them relaxing because I get what I expect. The trail groups are too big - usually 30 vehicles - so not too much ground is covered. If an obsticle is encountered that takes 5 minutes to get one Jeep through, then you spend over 2 hours there. So expect to spend a good portion of the day standing outside the Jeep, talking to other Jeepers, and watching the action. Go in with the right attitude and you'll have a blast. Go in expecting to do a lot of wheeling and you will be disapointed.

My self and my fiancee and I have been trail guides for Jeep Jamboree Canada for 5 years now. It is a great time. We try to keep trail rides down to 15 or so participants with 3 trail guides. We have trails for 101 up to 9. We have had people as far as Florida with us. The trails have something for everyone (rock, mud, hills, etc.). It is a lot of fun taking new Jeepers on a trail 15mi from no where. I have done the training for 101 for 3 years. It is really great to see old jeeps and new jeeps of all kinds on the same trail.
If you are looking to save a few bucks the Canadian Jeep Jamboree might be for you. It is $225 per preson CDN. With the exchange it would be just over 1/2 that. There is lot's of places to stay close by for hotels to B&B to camping in a camp ground to camping for free in the woods with some of my fellow trail guides. The are Jeep Jams all across Canada if you are looking for an adventure. I know it is worth the trip to any Jeep Jam.
