I just started going to college down here at Santa Barbara. And out of there 250 clubs at UCSB, not one 4x4 club, but of course they have a rice rocket club (For hondas with spoilers and new exaust tips) I hate those things and don't understand how anybody can think there cool at all. But, I need to know some cool places to camp and 4x4 out here. Does anybody know any cool places in the Coastal ranges? just some short weekend trip would be nice. Thanks

Here is Quadratec's list of 4X4 Clubs in California (http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sgdynamo.exe?HTNAME=4x4clubs/CA.html&UID=2002092817064045).
That might be a good place to start looking.
Good luck!

isn't anybody on this board from CA? Now that I think of it I can't remember anybody!
Me! Born and raised here! And I think Stilgear (?) is from Santa Rosa.
And Wheezer Jeeper, Jerry, from Escondido!

I'm from Dixon...about 1/2 hour west of Sacramento. It does seem that the majority of people on the board are from parts East. I tried to start a group ride to the Con for October 12-13th but struck out. Seems all you ever read about is the Pines.

My apologies, Jerry. Geezer! Not Wheezer....

There is probably a group of us that are glad you survived! Your info is great for all of us!
And good luck with the welts!
I have had them myself!

Yeah, I'm from the far North area of California. All trails are about 65-100 miles from me. tongue.gif I'm heading to Cow Mountain (http://www.ca.blm.gov/ukiah/cowmtn.html) on the 20th of next month.
I'm not too familiar with what trails are around Santa Barbara though. Good luck in your search for clubs and trails!

A big wave from me here in Ventura.
There are 2 clubs here. The Ventura 4x4's and
On The Rocks of Ventura. On the rocks is a hard core spin off of the ventura club..
A run comming up is the Holloween run done on the last weekend of October at night on the Miller Jeep trail. I have done this one in the past and it is alot of fun..
I work for Jeep of Ventura in the service dept if ya ever want to stop by and say hi....

Big Jeep Wave from Sacramento! I am sorry but I do not know any trails or clubs in your area. Good luck in your search. If you are ever up in this area drop me an email. I'll take you on a run or at least point you in the right direction.
I'll be doing the Rubicon next weekend (Oct 4, 5) with the Solano Trailbusters and Sand Mountain near Fallon, NV the following weekend......! :D :D

Fairfield, CA. about 50 miles from the coast and 80 miles from the hills, I just can't seem to get the time to go. I wish it would rain, I get really muddy on my way to work.

i think it's a good few hours north of SB, but there's always the state ORV park in Hollister: http://www.hollisterhills.com/
i've spent many a happy hour wheeling there, and you can camp too...oh, and there's at least one tow truck driver in the area who'll come drag you out of a hole at 10:30 at night if you need him to. ;)
darned if i remember his name though...
