I'll be there, and will take a rider, ride with someone else or even let one of the "newbies" drive mine. Doesn't matter.

We can set it up so that somebody with a camera is in front of the obstacles or mud holes or whatever to take some pics of you. That's no problem.
Ask Terri...she'll tell you...it's much more fun to drive than be a passenger anyway. And Heather will tell you, the one time that she went as a passenger, she wished she had driven her own.
ES00...you can drive Bigfoot, if I can drive the Cherokee. :D ;)

My CJ is being very *****y the last week or two so I don't want to risk the drive from NY to South Jersey but I would like to meet up with you all. I will drive down in my Cherokee and if that is no good for the trails could I hop in with someone? I know you are not supposed to talk to strangers but i'll bring bagels from brooklyn on my way down.

[ i am super stock, no mods, used to be wifes car type stock. how tough are the trails? is there places to go around really hard stuff that a stocker couldn't handle? I am not afraid of beating on it, just need to make the drive back up to LI afterwards and don't want to get stranded down there overnight.

I must be bored and should get back to work. The trail pictured has no bypasses for most of its length. That hole is at one end and this one is at the other. It appears here that I am immobile, but I am actually strapping mudstud out of the hole in front of me while taking a smoke break.

Thanks:Ed  I spoke to Tim Crain about this Ed. He seems to think that you have a solenoid burnt out. You have 4 of them on that winch. He said that it's easy to check and will help you out on Saturday with it. I'll bring you my book though too.

Hello to everyone, This is my first post on the board My name is Gene. I live in philly. I was reading the posts on the board. I mailed Holliday to find out about the ride. I would like to join in, if anyone dosen't mind. I have a 93 wrangler i've had for about ayear and a half. Never really did any offroading with it but definitly want to. If anyone can help a newbie out on stuff I should bring on the trail please let me know. Also I don't know jersey too well so if i could hook up with someone along the way that would be cool. I live in northeast philly and i can get too 73 easy. Thanks for your time and looking foward to meeting some cool jeep people.

I expect there will be some deep water so if you've got any electronics mounted under the seats move it to higher ground. With the high winds today there will be lots of dead trees and big branches down so a hand saw may save the day.If you take prescription meds bring a two day supply cause ya never know...

Thanks for your time and looking foward to meeting some cool jeep people.a vehicle that runs good, has decent tires and tow points is all you should need. the reason i say decent tires is because they will take a beating and if they are in questionable condition and you want to go offroad a lot its a good idea to have something in good or better shape. plus it is safer on the road too ;) if you have a cb or can throw one in the jeep real quick its nice to have because you can hear what is going on instead of sitting there and wondering why everyone has stopped. if you can borrow a handheld one from someone that has channel 4 on it is better than nothing. and one last thing, just to let everyone bash me some more, a heavy coat of wax on the jeep is a good idea if you want it to still look pretty afterward. :D
i live in bensalem and i dont think im going to be there this time because im going upstate for the weekend unless the weather forecast changes. any other trail ride i go on and you want to go we can caravan down there. its real easy to get to. go over the tacony or betsy ross bridge then stay on 73 south until you get to the circle at route 70. (olgas diner) take route 70 east until you get to the circle at route 206. take 206 south until you see the pic a lilly bar on the left hand side. you will see all the jeeps there in the parking lot. approximately 45 minutes from philly. 15-20 minutes on 73, 15 min. on 70 and 10-15 min on 206.

Especially if its your Daily Driver. If ya see someone going in deep water that's lifted in front of you, and its pretty high to them, DON'T TRY IT! You don't want to take it in to get fiximacated.
And Matt, turn that frown upside down! smile.gif see?

Well since there is no cell phone coverage out there and cb only works for about a mile cause of the trees...you better yell really loud! You shouldn't get lost. Just remember where you've been and pick a landmark at every turn. If worse comes to worse backtrack and follow your tire tracks back out. Make sure you pack a big iron spitt too. If you get stranded pick the smallest, weakest member and cook them first. If it gets dark make sure you show no fear. The Jersey Devil can smell fear and will zero right in on you. I forgot all you city folk have GPS's and they can get you real lost!

The best thing to do for directions is to plug "route 206, Atsion, NJ." into Yahoo Maps or Mapquest and get directions from wherever you are.
You can't miss the Pic-a-lilly Tavern.
If you get lost, my mobile # is 610-348-7072.

If not, good luck and have fun.

ok piney, ill be there. i just got off the phone with my uncle and he has tons to do at his new house so he is gonna stay home instead of driving 4 hours to sit in rain. did you happen to go back toward the swamp loop or the "boggin piney" area at all? i know a few trails up on the north side, but i dont remember the southern trails very well. if someone else is already leading thats cool too.
(using jedi mind trick) mudstud, you will be there. (and if pags and bristoy see this, it goes for you too :D )
lets go flyers! ;)
BTW, piney. i seem to get all my deer when it is overcast or clear. i seem to miss all the time when there is precipitation

I have an auto ES...Don’t ride with greenie, he still uses that old cliché about running out of gas. At least that’s what mudstud said.
Greenie, sent you directions.

ROFLMAO! Greenie let Russ lead when you get to guardrail. That first hole should separate the men from the boys. I was in it yesterday and it's at least as deep as when we had the deuce and a half out there last year. I would stay to the extreme right and not go down the middle. I guess the stockers would have more fun going thru the middle though. Make sure you have your cameras. I want to see pictures. :D

Hey I was there the day with the deuce And I made it. Whats a matter dont think I would do a good job. Or just get stuck all the time.

10-18-2002, 11:44 AM
Everyone made it!
I could care less if you lead. Why would I care? I won't be there. It helps to know where your going when you have a bunch of people following you though. As far as you getting stuck all the time, you do that out of choice and I could also care less cause again, I won't be there. :D

By the way not everyone made it through some didnt and some didnt try wich I dont blame them. The only reason you wouldnt make it is because its deep water not mud where you get stuck but water wich can cause alot of problems make you stall. I was only kidding about leading i do know my way around most of the trails that i ve been on. But wouldnt want to lead And I dont think most people here would want me to. I do give you and the other guys credit for leading everyone through the pines. I just like coming out and meeting everyone.

I'll bring my hip waders, and I'll pick up another tow strap today. I have a half dozen or so shackles to link straps together.
For deep water, I'd suggest that everyone, new and old, have at least a spare air filter. We'll deal with any other emergencies as they occurr, if they occur.
But there will be LOTS of photo opportunities. :D
I'm glad you're coming out there RussK. It's been a while.
What's the planned departure time from the Pic?

Well I think we're gonna plan on a usual deptaure time. I have asked all the newbies and the jeep girls to be there by 930 I think Matt is going to be there early too so that we can make sure they are all prepped and matched up with someone that can help them out.
I'll be getting everything together this afternoon and checking mail one last time tonight around 11, or If any one has any questions comments to needs anything, e-mail me, post here or call my cell at 610-842-3768.

I'll be there, but since I haven't welded my spring perch back on the frame, and I don't wanna drive my bone stock, high mileage 94 Wrangler, I am gonna be riding shotgun with Drowned TJ.
We meet at the pic at 9:30, to leave at 10:00?

?You wanna put a limit on that? :D :D j/k
Have an open mind, relax, feel comfortable using a natural "potty", and don't be afraid to ask questions, especially for help.
You'll be fine.

Matt and I will be meeting with the newbies for some last minute tips, I'm going to try and make sure that everyone has an expirience person either shotgunning or directly in front and back of them! Everyone make sure you have cameras, batteries, water, snacks, tp, tow hooks and straps, pape towels/handy wipes, etc! Make your check lists and go over them twice...See you all in the am!!!

Hope your checking resumes on those experienced people. :D :D :D
Now don't get all offended I'm just kidding. I hope you all have a very safe and fun day and there is no damage. Greenie will take good care of you, just don't let him invite you for a walk to view nature up close and personal. What he calls "nature" is his little nickname for something else. tongue.gif

?Remember that whatever you take into the pines comes out. Most importantly if you do get stuck and it starts to get dark make sure you are wearing dark clothing that way it will be harder for the Jersey Devil to get a bead on you as it is flying above. This one little tip has saved Piney and I more than a few times!

ill be there with heather a little early if anyone has questions. im just gonna let people know the basic safety stuff and what to do when you get stuck and things to be careful of during recoverys and winching. if russ doesnt mind burying his jeep real good we can show everyone how to winch an extreamly stuck vehicle ;) :D .
russ, the first trail i want to go down might bore you until we get to the areas with go arounds. im sure you will find your way into the deep stuff :D . i did make it through one of the real deep ones that terri messed up her tranny in, but it should be deeper since it has rained a few times since then. are you gonna bring the YJ or the TJ? ;)
