Looking good! What trails did you run up there?
How do you like that Olympic Bumper? I never got a chance to ask ya before smile.gif

I love the bumper. I got alot of compliments on it while at Paragon...alot of inquiries even from OK4wd and Paragon Employees. It held up well when I used the winch, and the reciever to pull a CJ out of some rocks. I didn't like the bumper at first...cursed it pretty good while putting it on. But it's a keeper.

I ran mostly blue trails at paragon. Headless horseman, and Sleepy hollow were two of the ones on Saturday. And Sunday I went a little easier... Chicken run, inner and outer spare tire loop, turtle, Mini rubicon... Ton of fun! It was a blast! My first time there, and I can't wait to go back.

The next roll of film that I post will show some minor trail damage. The nerf bars took a beating on Saturday, but stayed on. As far as I'm concerned, they did their job! :D

two TJ's broke rear axles...locked D35's...on Saturday. Made for a long slow day. But shtuff happens. And I learned alot. Never actually saw a redneck axle repair done before. And I got to help with both of them on Saturday. So that was cool...as long as it wasn't mine. ;) :D

The scenic stream pics were from an old coal mine shaft that I found during one of our axle down times.

The one that you see was pretty stock 'cept for the swampers. That thing was cool as hell! A little down on power at times, but for the most part, made it through with little trouble. REally neat to see him out there.

HE was a younger guy that can't afford the "Jeep thing" just yet. But he was out there with what he had, and did extremely well, and was cool to talk with. His buddy and a pretty radical F40 too. We got to compare "pucker marks" in each of our seats a few times. :D

nice pics smile.gif you know, you are not supposed to wheel in rickets glen SP. :D thats what the photos of the water falls look like. actually, i know some of the PA/NJ people on the board like to camp. within an hour ride of paragon in several directions there are lots of cool parks with good scenic hiking trails and camp grounds. the only thing that stinks with the state parks is no booze.

I found those water falls while on a very short hike during the wait for one of the obstacles...a TJ withg a busted axle, halfway up a challenging hill. I found those falls and an old coal mine shaft that yuo can just make out in some of the pics. It has a fence in front of it.

I used to g to Rickets Glen when i was a kid...REALLY little kid. I don't remember much 'cept for the name.

i was at ricketts glen over the summer. i was with my best friend and his girlfriend. they said the running water level was a lot lower than normal because they drained lake jean(?) to do work on the spillway or something. the trails are realy cool. there was one we went down on the way back from the falls and it was full of boulders and i kept thinking how cool it would have been to sneak around the boulders in a jeep. another neat thing is all the native brook trout in the little pools coming down the falls. they are hard to spot because they hide under rocks when you walk by. if you manage to get a look at them they have awsome color to them. i highly recommend going back there if you get the chance, spring is probably best. http://bbb.quadratec.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif http://bbb.quadratec.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif

maybe a M&G camping trip or something next year...

sorry to hijack the thread :D

Ahhhh...Rickets Glen. That was the first place I ever camped and one of the first "trips" with my then-girlfriend, now wife, and soon to be mother of our child. That trip lead us to know each other so well and we learned so much about each other hiking those waterfalls. In fact, if that first trip were not so successful we probably would not have camped our way across the country a few years later.

The funny thing is when we got there and found a camp site we somehow set up the tent(for the first time  ) Then, as we are sitting there the people next to us pack up and are about to leave and they ask us if we want their left over firewood. We say yes and say "Oh yeah, that's right...you are supposed to have a campfire when you go camping!" We totally did not know. Also, while she was in the bathroom a deer comes walking by and got so close I could just about touch the thing. That was the first time I was ever "close" to a deer and barely **** myself in fear that this thing was going to trample me! Then, I look over and the Ranger was having a nature walk and kids were petting the deer. I was so embarrassed.

Thanks for the memory, and let us know when we can go up there next summer with our kid. Gotta start 'em before they wait until they are 20.

I'd definitely be up for a M&G up there...or even just a trip amongst friends. M&G's seem to be difficult to oraganize sometimes. No matter.

If there's a stream, and fish in it, I'm game. :D ...say sometime after April 15 (usually approx date for opening day of trout fishing) ;)

hey ray, i stayed at promised land state park when i was up there. the last moring at promised land we packed up our stuff and went to rickets glen early and then drove home that afternoon. another park that i hear is nice is hickory run. i hear they have been having realy bad bear problems the last few years, dont want to scare me or that ferocious dog you have ;) promised land has sites for pets now too. i think rickets is doing the pets also. i think it was something they started not too long ago. the waterfalls at rickets glen have native trout but you are not allowed to fish them. i think if you were allowed, you wouldnt see any at all, it would get cleaned out pretty quick. there are lots of fish at promised land. mostly bass and pickerel. lots of small lakes that are within a short drive too.
