Great time all day long, can't wait to go back tommorrow morning.
It was nice to finnally get to meet some of you and do some wheeling.
Who's gonna be the first to post pics? i'm gonna wait to upload mine till tommorrow night.
Anyone actually count how many jeeps we had there?
Who did the most carnage? Saw the Rubi with the dented fender/broken turn signal, I think 2 people lost axel shafts. I think I may take the cake with flooding my transmission with water and mud, damn thing wouldn't go into 3rd gear. Drove the whole way home in 2nd gear at about 3500 RPM's. Damn automatic tranny vents, o well, time to change the fluid.

see ya'll next ride,
Jonathan Terhune

Carnage?!!! What happened? We had such a good morning.
Sorry to hear about the transmission Jonathan.
Who broke axels?

Dereck - You did great man. There were several places where I told them to have a strap ready for you. I'm glad you proved me wrong! smile.gif

It was me and Coynster who snapped axles. :( Well, technically, it wasn't me, Mike was driving, but, it snapped.

Passenger side on ours, and drivers side on Coynsters. :(

But, thanks to Kennedy for letting us use his trailer to get home.

We did get a replacement, but were unable to replace it on the trail.(damn c-clips)

It was great to meet so many new faces. Lets do it again real soon. :D

Will let you know how the fixin-the-axle-thing-goes. :D

the ironic thing was they both broke on the same hill... it was the hill just as you are coming into the Quarry...across the road from the block building ...its dirt then rock and a nasty trail at that....i imagine there will be pictures of it posted?

The orange trail went so smooth (compared to what all happened after that :( ). The day was brutal… I have couple new noises to figure out or just accept. But for the first time in three runs I made it home with out stopping for repaires!!! :D

see ya'll next ride,
Jonathan TerhuneHey there... I'd be the driver of the Rubi in question. This weekend was my first time out, what a vehicle to do it in!

What I learned this trip:
Lockers hamper your ability to turn. Had I known this, I'd have walked away damage-free... As it is, the fender and flasher damage happened at the bottom of a hill and featured a large, fallen tree. I just wasn't able to turn tight enough and: C R U N C H !

Eh, that's what I bought it for smile.gif

Thanks to everyone who made this a great first time for me. You guys are all right, no matter what they say about you in other forums. :D

I'll be around.

My turn to throw out my .02 about Saturday, seeing as how it's 4:00am here in Indiana.

This was my second run, and most importantly, second time I came home safe. Jeeping on no sleep made it rough sometimes. My ride TO Attica took about 2 1/2 hours (excluding breaks)... my trip home took about 4 hours... I had to stop and wake myself up every 45 min or so and take some caffeine pills from a gas station

My Jeep performed flawlessly. My mistakes of the day were all driver-related. I was learning (and still am) how to drive my Jeep, lol. I didn't make it up that big hill with three paths on the right and the coming down path on the left... it was all sand and well... I guess 4-hi, rev-limiters, and 36" super swampers don't mix... I even tried more momentum... I just simply couldn't make it up the hill. I'll figure it out next time.

I also failed to make it up the ONE thing I really really wanted to do. I saw Kristi crawl up it last run in her 4-banger, so when I got my souped-up TJ, I was hoping to breeze through it. Again, I just need to go on runs more, learn some more things, and just get more trail experience. People told me all day "That Jeep will take you anywhere you wanna go in this park"... I just need to learn how to direct it :D

Overall, I had a hell of a day smile.gif I met some new faces, saw some familiar ones, accomplished more than I did last time, took a lot of advice, learned a lot, and of course, parked my Jeep proudly in front of the ATVs/motorcycles by the concession stand :D This was a learning experience, and I thank everyone who helped me and went with me on the green trail (i know, wuss wuss wuss) tongue.gif

P.S. Thanks to Wolfe for looking out for me the whole day, he was gonna buy my Jeep before I got a hold of it, he knows how much time and money was put into my Jeep, so his help was appreciated

P.P.S. Who was the guy recording me play around in the quarry? I'd love to have some clips of me in action to send to friends and such smile.gif

Pics to come shortly, as soon as I put up my website

That'd be me smile.gif . Unfortunetly I currently do not have a way to convert it over to digital. It turned out pretty good. I rode along with wolfe later in the day, so I had some good shots of him also. Maybe I will look into trying to transfer it on... or maybe I could cut you a tape.
