View Full Version : Anyone feel like a ride in the Pines this weekend? Sunday, 11/3@10
Piney

I'm open as to what day. The woods are about slowly back to normal now, finally after a year of drought. For you people that just started riding out here you will see that the area is different to you, but actually getting close to normal for here.
My preference would be Saturday, but Sunday is fine too. If no one wants to go I'll be slogging around out there anyway.

I'd go Saturday but I don't wanna break her before she gets her lift on Sunday... I'm free Nov 16th/17th!

You will love that lift. It’s surprising how a couple of extra inches of clearance will make things much easier for you. Although it can also get you stuck further out and harder to retrieve.
The week of the 16th is too far in the future for me to even know what planet I'll be on.

Piney, are you going on the tenth for the short run, then the get together at the pic for wings and beer?

Sunday may work for me depending on Baseball. Sat is Soccer and Baseball all day...

Are you going to the Pine Barrens or Pine Barrons this weekend? I need to know so I can dress appropriately.. :D :D
Piney
10-30-2002, 12:49 PM
We are going to the Pine Barrens to visit the Pine Barrons. The dress of the day would require an ascot and kilt with multi-colored leggings. The ability to dance a jig is also required.
Sunday is fine, but are you going to show? You know your record of AWOL's has been growing steadily. :D
I don't know about the 10th.

My record of AWOL's, I seem to remember a certian Pine Barrens resident that hasn't shown up to the last 2 runs, 9/29 and 10/19. I'm starting to think that I'd have a better chance of seeing the Jersey Devil than you Piney. :D :D

I know you hunt with a bow, but I hunt with my jeep. Here is a picture of a bear I dispatched with the jeep. They are usually a little flat, but the meat is nice and tender.

Do they allow regular rifle hunting and "smoke pole :D " hunting in the Pines where we ride Jim?
We disturbed quite a few archers on that last ride out there. I was a little concerned riding out there on a Saturday THEN! With bullets zingin' around? ...dunno 'bout that. Sunday is probably the better day for this. But since I ain't goin', I really have no say. Just a thought.

I think I'll lead the end of the ride straight to Zach's house. We can all supervise and make catchy little comments while he's trying to work. He loves that! :D
When he works on my jeep I'm required to stand no closer than 50 yards or I'm charged double.

Sunday is probably the better day for this. But since I ain't goin', I really have no say. Just a thought.i think the whole state is shotgun and archery only, not sure about smoke poles. i used to work for ***** sporting goods and i remember all the jersey hunters complaining that they couldnt use high powered rifles. actually, you can use muzzle loaders, we used to sell all our in-line muzzel loaders to people from jersey because you werent allowed to use them in PA at the time.

piney, i was thinking abou hunting over there but the problem is:
Non-Resident Bow & Arrow Hunting $135.50
Deer Permits for Bow, Shotgun or Muzzleloader $28.00

and i thought jersey wanted to knock down their deer population. it cost more than if i lived in jersey and wanted to hunt in PA.

BrianBri, I have a keyboard that I don't use (off of a computer that is collecting dust!)... it works fine last time I used it, let me know I'll bring it to Zach's Sunday and we can figure something out.

I just got home after being in the hospital since 8:30 AM! What an awesome day!!!! I am so excited. We had a baby girl and she and Mom are doing great. The delivery went so smooth I was astounded and relieved. I didn't even faint! She was 7 lbs. 12 ounces and almost 20" long. Good size little lady. We are naming her Hannah Carol. We were pretty set on Paytin, but when I saw her I thought Hannah, but said nothing. Then, when Annette saw her she said Hannah also!
I hope you all have a great time on the trail and I plan to be out there soon. I am trying to teach Hannah how to drag a tow strap! :D

Above the roar of the soft top and the drone of the swampers a new noise reared its ugly head. When I got home I put the jeep on stands, pulled the drums and found my noise. well, terri and i followed piney past his house and toward route 73 and all of a sudden up ahead terri is on the shoulder with a tranny that was wounded once again. i got in and drove it back to my house and played with the shifter for a bit and she is able to get 1st and 2nd gear only. she left here around 5'ish so i dont expect her to make it home until 7-730 with the limping tranny. if zach is reading this i told her to ask you about possibly putting in a tranny vent when you are doing the lift, just wanted to give you a heads up.

Yeah I JUST got back (after grabbing a Pizza) from the trip, man am I beat.
It finally went up from second while going 60mph (RPMs around 4000) when all the sudden I felt her smooth out and go down to 2500 rpms, then when I got to route 30 and stoplights I played with it a little more, I could really tell the difference between the gears then.

I’m sorry I can’t really tell who that is in the picture. It seems the sun glare from that guys bald head is blinding me.

snack wagon What are you talking about?
My little one bought a book home from school today "Blackbeard the pirate and other stories of the Pine Barrens". It talks about the NJ Devil and the buried treasures where we wheel. Told her to ask Piney for a history tour one day.
Broke out the pressure washer after work and gave my toy a good scrubbing. There is lots of brown bark rubbing/scratches up the winshield frame and the corners of the hood. Tomorrow it's the inside.
