View Full Version : Has there ever been an attempt at doing a Badlands Midnight run?

I know that one of the rules at the Badlands is that the park closes at 6pm sharp :( , but do you think that if enough interest was showed in doing a night run with a campout on grounds that they might let us :D ? Think of it… sigh… cool crisp air… quiet… peaceful… no quads… no QUADS…
I dunno I could just be dreaming but that would be a great way to bring in the spring (and give you Jeepers time to add a couple dozen more lights)!

HELL YEA smile.gif who's got the pull to make a query with the badlands folks about something like this..

You'll have my vote for it and probably 10 or more other jeepers from the Purdue off-road club would go.
Start a petition and send it to the badlands. Think about it, 100 jeeps 1 night is $1,500 extra dollars for them plus extras. Why wouldn't they do it?

Maybe Hella, IPF, or KC could sponsor it?

And NO QUADS, that's the part I love.

They used to have camping there, but I guess some unauthorized night runs were part of the reason they don't do that any more. I'm sure Magnolia could tell you more about that.

On the other hand, I've heard that they're making a camping area inside the park soon. You never know... smile.gif

I'd really like to see how many people are interested first, hate to go all the way to get permission then have too few people interested, or not enough.

You never know... smile.gif Yeah they used to have camping at the Badlands back by the quarry for major events like Superlift. They had to stop that due to thier insurance. There were way too many drunks going out in the middle of the night and wheeling and getting stuck or hurt. They have a lot less liability when no one is there at night. THey have become a lot more strict in the last few years too about making sure everyone is out too.

I did hear they were building a campground but they are probably going to figure out a way to block it off from the trails. Who knows! Maybe they would let people do it if it was organized.

well, myself, wicked, hatchet, and alpine are all pretty much night-wheelers anyway.. we would be more than happy to organize it.

wicked.. put a topic in trail rides looking for 'interest' in night wheeling at the badlands.. lets see how many would want to do it..

If they do say "no" due to insurance, find out what a rider on their insurance would cost, and bill each participant accordingly; call it a one-time special event with sponsor.

If you REALLY want to do a night run, try Haspin Acres (http://www.motocrosspark.com/haspin/index.htm).
You can ride until 11PM. Check it out!

A night run at Haspin acres is an idea, but keep in mind that its the same distance from our house to Haspin (going southeast) as it is to the Badlands.
So for some people from up north of us, it's twice the distance.
