I was wondering where some of you have mounted the box and how you ran the wiring. Fuse box or right to battery? Cobra doesn't give you very much wire so will I need to add more? I was thinking of mounting mine on the passenger side firewall and running the negative/positive cables through drain hole, positive to battery and negative to chassis. Sound good or is there a better place to put it without going through too much b.s.?

FYI I'm using a 4'whip antenna out the back and running the cable either underneath chassis or under carpeting, don't know if this matters but just thought I would throw that in there.

Any thoughts as well as pictures of setups would be awesome, I thank you in advance.

Mine is wired to a painless fuse block. I put the box underneath the front of the center console. It fits perfectly under there especially with mounting the mic on the drivers side of the console. I have a turbo city antenna mount that is attached behind the drivers side brake light, the wire goes through the brake light grommet and under the carpet. Makes a really clean install.

I mounted my CB to my sound bar. I had to extend the wires about 15 feet, but it's a nice clean install. You should put the hot right to the battery, but I'm lazy and just spliced into the hot for my radio -- now whenever I have both on I get static out of the CB whenever the bass hits.

Check out this website. I have my Cobra CB mounted with velcro and have the wires hooked up to a dc plug for my cigarette lighter. Makes it extremely easy to remove from the vehicle when not being used.

I mounted my 75WXST on the HVAC duct running beneath the steering column. There is a nice flat spot there where I used some heavy duty two sided tape to stick the housing for the CB. It also makes it easy to fish the connector from under the dash (I have mine zip tied so its always in the same location). I wired a painless fuse box on the inner fender near where the steering column comes out of the firewall (again in a nice flat spot) and ran the power wire through the grommet for the steering column. I had enough wire without splicing to do this from the CB itself. And the fuse box is direct wired to the battery with some heavy amplifier wire I had left over from a stereo install. I also had to install a line filter on my antenna wire which I mounted with double sided tape to a flat spot behind and to the right of the CB unit. The wire is run under the carpet and through a drain grommet to the bumper where I have my 4' antenna mounted. It has never fallen from the double sided tape (which I believe it would by now if it was going to) and I have almost no noise. Plus my SWR came out at 1.2 on high and low channels and I forget where it was in the middle. The handset sits in my cup holder. I am still planning on getting a external speaker and mounting it to the soundbar and mounting the handset connector in the dash I just have not gotten around to it.

Mine is mounted behind my glove box (out of sight). My brother installed it for me so not sure how he wired it. I unplug the handset and keep it in the glovebox until I need it. Again out of sight, out of mind for thieves...but of course the firestik is a dead giveaway.... smile.gif
