Does any one have an idea on how to wire your CB so it will turn off when the ignition is turned off? I have a bad habit of leaving my CB on and the vehicle is off. I thought about going into the fuse panel but can’t figure out how to wire that. Any suggestions?

Wire it into the fuse panel under one of the accessories...same type of fuse that your radio is hooked up to. This way it will not turn on when the jeep isnt on!

I wouldn't worry too much about leaving it on. Unless you have a VERY powerful CB you are only going to pull 1/4 amp at most.

Remove your glove box and fish around in the wires above the fuse block. You should find two red wire with labels. One is labeled something to the effect "accessories switched", and another labeled "unswitched". Just use a quick splice to tap into the "switched" wire. Its a lot easier than pulling the fuse block and getting behind that. smile.gif

Not sure if this responce is too late or not but don't worry about the CB being left on as Snowman has stated, a CB current draw on receive is less than a 1/4 amp.

As the others suggested, you needn't worry about the CB staying on with the ignition key turned off. It really doesn't draw enough current to worry about and there will be plenty of times on the trail that you'll want to be able to talk on the CB without having to worry about keeping the ignition switch turned on. The CB could be accidentally left on for days without draining the battery.
Besides, one of the basics of wiring in a 2-way radio like a CB is that it should always, always, always be wired directly to the battery. This gives the radio the cleanest noise-free power possible to the radio which will mean you'll hear less static and the people listening to you will hear a better sounding signal too.

Todd's Jeep,
Did you ever get your CB installed with the key switch control ?
How did it turn out ?
I was thinking, if you wanted to get fancy you could add a small rely controlled by the FM Radio circuit; minimum juice draw for the rely.
