Hey guys, I know this is pretty basic and all, but I can't get the inclinometor to light up as it should. I tried splicing one wire to an orange wire with a black stripe, and the other wire was the ground. When I turned on my lights, the 4wd light came on and the illumination on the inclinometor was very dim. Can anyone tell me which wire to splice into and where is the wire located at? Sorry guys, I'm a welder, not an electrician.

You should almost never splice into the factory wiring unless you;re doing something very specific and know what you're doing. Run a wire to the fuse box and one to a ground. Splicing into the factory wiring could do bad things...like set off your air bags!

Well, I never thought of that. Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can get my dad to help me with running to the fuse box.

I forgot to mention....I was hoping to be able to wire this up so that when I turn on my lights, the backlight illumination on the inclinometor comes on. Does anyone have any idea where I should wire this to?

Not sure what you're driving, but I'll assume it's a TJ. There's a black and yellow wire coming out of the back of your headlight switch. Make sure this wire is + before you do anything. If it is, it the wire for your parking lights. That should work for you. I would suggest hooking up a relay though.

Yeah, it is a 98 TJ. I'll try that wiring.

And here I thought you only had to run one wire to the left side of the vehicle and the other wire to the right side of the vehicle.

That way you can tell which side is higher...

Why dont you just velcro a level on your dash with a degree marking on it. ;)

Ok, Im letting my ghetto side show again.
