Need ideas for mounting locations. Any and all suggestions welcomed.
I don't have a CB yet but I am looking for something somewhat compact. Probably like the $35-45 model from Radio Shack.
TIA,
Dennis

I got the Cobra 75 WXST CB. Used this webpage for installation.

smile.gif CB Rack is great... unless you're 6' or above and don't like hitting your head every bump you hit. I personally installed mine on my sound bar... just shot some self tapping screws into it just to the passenger side of the light at an angle so I can easily see it and control it from where I sit. Works great, and you really can't see it unless you're looking for it even with the top off!

Mounting is all in where you want it or like it.
My only problem is the Rat Shaq Radio.
If at all possible go somewhere else for your CB, antenna and Coax, PLEASE.
Maybe buy a Uniden or Cobra at a truck stop or radio shop.
Both of these manufacters make small radios for around $50 to $75.
Luck,

A few Questions DFvaulter:
Does it get in the way while your shifting?
Where did you get the bracket?
I like that location, and might use that as my solution.
If you could take a pic of the antenna I'd like to see that, what mount did you use for that?
Thanks, Dennis

You may want to check out E-Bay. I think it's costing me $70 for everything, including a 3ft Wilson ant & a Uniden 510XL.

We just started carrying a new bracket. There is no picture of it online, but it puts the cb on it's side beside your right leg on the factory console. You have to drill one hole for a 'push' style retaining plug to support it. It is made of stainless steel and is really a nice product.

-beaker Yeah I am definately checking out eBay. So far I have found serveral CB's that I am watching right now. </font>[/QUOTE]$70 for a Uniden and 3' Wilson antenna??? That's no deal. Brand-new 510XL radios only sell for $39 and a brand-new 3' Wilson only goes for $14... you're only up to $53. A 3' Firestik antenna kit including the antenna, mount, and cable is only $26!
So if you bought the 510XL for $39 and added the $26 Firestik kit, you're only up to $65 plus shipping. So RETAIL, that's cheaper than ebay! Here's just one of many online retailers that beat eBay's pricing... http://www.valcoelectronics.com/
You can usually BEAT eBay's pricing just by looking around a little. eBay's pricing, especially on new gear, is just crazy now. Much of it ultimately ends up selling for more than it retails for.
I just bought a brand-new ICOM 2 meter ham radio from my local ham radio outlet for almost $20 LESS than a USED version of it that was missing the manual finally sold for on eBay... it's just crazy on eBay, people get caught up in the bidding process or they have no idea they can buy much of what is on eBay cheaper elsewhere.

Mount & cable, plus shipping, were included. So its not too far past retail (plus I could do it from the convinence of my home at 10PM after I was home from work.)

True but you can also order online from Valco, save money, and be able to track the order and the UPS delivery progress as well. I'll order from eBay when it's a unique item but not 'new' stuff that costs less elsewhere that is also safer to buy from. smile.gif

I mounted mine where on the top of the dash. Where the cut out is for coins and whatever. Works well looks like crap.
