New Security for CD players???

You guys might have already seen this, but I was taking apart a 03 TJ dash board to replace their head unit. I was trying to get it out, and I realized that there was like a metal Y shapped bar holding the cdplayer in w/ two 10 mm bolts. Is this the new thing by Jeep? Or not? From all the sterios I have taken out, it was something I had never seen before.

i will try. You first pop off the thin pannel on the very top of ur dash, like where ur defroster is. Take out the one screw behind the ash trey, and the dash pops off like normal. Well, where that first pannel popped off there was two 10mm bolts mounted virtically (that held on this Y shapped bar). Take those bolts off (and unhook the bar), and then with the two 10mm bolts that normally would hold on the radio, you can then pull out the radio. I thought it was awesome and put it on the aftermarket radio, so it would be harder for someone to jack.

03's dont have a ashtray in the dash its a stupid little cup w/lid fits in the drink holder :( so the panel just pullls loose they say as Ihave yet to do mine .but the screw's under the top panel are the same

Mullet Nope, not new; At least I can say my 00 had it. Just their way of supporting the backend of the head unit....
