View Full Version : Need Help Identifying The Alarm In My Jeep??

The PO had an alarm installed on the Jeep when I bought it. I'm having trouble looking it up somewhere so I can get a manual to read up on maybe how to tweak it or at least understand how it works.

I used when I was in college and it worked well, but when I last used it about a year ago, it seems it would get set off when it rains  . I have had it turned off (toggle switch under dash) since then.

If it helps, there is a tansmitter on top of the dash, that shows blinking lights when it's armed, and the rest of it is under the dash. I'm not sure yet how it is attached, bolts or zip-ties yet.

On the top of it, it says Avital Zone 2 (actually Zone Squared). There are also 2 adjusting dials on it and one says trigger and the other says warn away.

Since I don't know yet how to unattach the box from under the dash, I'm sure the model number of the alarm is under there.

I was just wondering if anyone heard of these or can help me identify it. I can take some pics too if needed.

I also need a new remote since the two I have don't work.

TIA,

CM.

Just a thought but have you looked at their website. http://www.avital.com/

Yea, I've been there but no luck. I have a feeling that the model that I have isn't made anymore. Since I don't know yet how to take the alram box off from under the dash, which I don't really want to do yet, I'm not sure of the model number of it.

Thanks,

CM.

Never heard of that brand. See if you can find all breach points protected on your vehicle (door pins, hood pin, tailgate, shock sensor, motion sensor, etc). Make sure they are all working properly and not shorting out or anything. Check your hood pin first and see if it's rusted. If it is, maybe that is setting it off due to a short when it rains and water leaks into it. If it's a shock or motion sensor setting it off all the time, you might try turning the sensitivities down all the way.

The above will only help you try and determine why it keeps going off. As for the remotes not working, you may only need new batteries, probably a specialty battery. A car audio and security shop may have some generic replacements for them, but if they don't work, they can't copy the transmission frequency from them.

Good Luck.
