i just moved my antenna mount from my rear bumper to the spare tire carrier. now i get squealing on the other guys side when i use the cb. do you think i need to ground it better or just go to my local cb shop and have the antenna fine tuned? i have a firestick antenna if that helps. thanks for the help in advance.

I'd take a look at trying to ground it better. If the antenna is already tuned from before, it shouldn't have to be tuned again.

When I mounted my antenna on the spare tire stopper with Tomkens mount, I had to scrape some paint off the top and bottom (not noticeable) of the tire stopper and the same with the mount itself to get a better ground.

Sometimes just changing the location of the antenna can change things enough to cause problems with the SWR (Standing wave Ratio) but squealing I would say no.

Do you have a Power Microphone ?
If you have a PM turn it down.

Do you have a Mic Gain Control on the CB ?
If you have a Mic Gain turn it down. If you have a Mic Gain and a PM get ride of the PM or turn it down all the way, well almost.

Do you have a ground wire attached from the chassis of the CB to a good ground point ?
Attach an additional 1/4" ground braid from a chassis bolt on the CB to a good ground point, preferrably a ground point attached to the frame of the vehicle.

Do you have the antenna mount grounded ?
Attach a 3/8 to 1/2" braid from the antenna mount to the frame, use the most direct route allowing for the swing of the tire carrier.

Start one at a time with these, one might fix it or maybe you need all.

Luck,

If you do not have the Power Mic and or the Mic Gain start with the ground braid.
