I HAD A 95 ZJ THAT I INSTALLED A HOPPY NO-SPLICE TRAILOR WIRING HARNESS IN.WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS.THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN WHEN I TUNRED OFF THE LIGHTS, THE TRAILERS PARKING LIGHTS STAY ON SO I HAD TO UNPLUG YHEM EVERY TIME I PARKED.NOW I HAVE A 98 ZJ WITH A U-HAUL HARNESS AND THE RIGHT TRAILER LIGHT DOES THE SAME THING.THESE HARNESSES ARE PRETTY EXPENSIVE FOR ME AND "UNPLUG EVERY TIME YOU PARK" METHOD IS GETTING PRETTY OLD.ANY ADVICE? THANKS

It sounds like you have a grounding problem. Find the ground wire and make sure it is in a good clean spot. It not move it so it is. There also may be a short in the wire. Look at all the wire to make sure it all looks good with no exposed wire.

The only time I've ever seen this happen, the guy had the plug on the vehicle wired wrong. It was doing crazy stuff. The lights would stay on as you described, but then the actual running lights would activate the brakes.
