use good quality wire as for moster wire it looks great but with the low amps being pushed through it I dont think it will make that much real diff unless you are doing a 1000 watts or more .Save money for other mods JMHO

Huge speaker wire gauges like are pushed on naive consumers are a joke. When I see some 19 year old running speaker wires that are nearly as big as battery jumper cables who then tries to convince me that size is needed for his car's audio system, I just back off and say nothing. I'm a EE and to have some 19 year-old salesrep at an audio shop telling me tell me I need 10 gauge cable to run 100-200 watts is an insult. For typical audio installations, 14 gauge stranded copper wire is WAY more than enough.
Monster Cable and companies like it are laughing all the way to the bank with the obscene profits they are making due to the naivety of their mostly naive customers.

Do you think 18 AWG is about right or should i go smaller like a 20 AWG? Those gauges seem to be obtainable pretty cheaply.
Thanks,
Travis

I always try to use 16 gauge. It alway works well to all front speakers or 6x9s. When you get to subs, the gauge needs to go up in relation to the watts run.
