So what's the problem with mounting the antenna to the bumper? I have a Wilson 4' antenna, as long as I run the wire to a good solid ground and put the nylon (or plastic or whatever) washer where it should be, preventing the antenna from contacting a ground besides where the wire runs, will this setup be a problem? I've heard mixed reviews of bumper mounting and was just wondering why some people think it's a bad idea?

i had mine mounted to my bumper for about a year and had no problems with that setup. the only reason i moved it recently was because i wanted it up higher mounted to the spare carrier. this was the setup i had. antenna mount (http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sgin0101.exe?T1=96080+51&UREQA=1&UREQB=2&UREQC=3&UREQD=4&FNM=00&UID=2004022608354408)

I have my 4' Firestick antenna mounted to my rear bumper just to the right of the left tail light. Basically, it is centered between the left tail light and the tailgate opening. No problems with ground and it is installed the way that you indicate.

Just wasn't sure why some people wouldn't recommend placing it on the bumper (besides theft reasons)
Did you run the ground to the frame or ground it on the bumper? My understanding is that TJs can be just ground on the bumper, but that may be wrong.

It is just grounded on the bumper.

Trebor, where were you in the 'Nam? I was there with the 903rd Aeromedevac (USAF) in '69-70.
