Real Soon Now if I had my way. I'm probably going to be getting one in the next two months.

I'll probably be keeping mine in the cupholder, anything short of that would be too close to going flying out.

The other option would be one of those side-clamping cellphone holders. I think one of those might be able to the iPod pretty securely.

Of course, if you have the Griffen iTrip and a wired remote, you could leave it in the center console and change the song with the remote.

i am using the iTrip now -- but i am getting it wired directly into the stereo as an aux. i just need to figure out where i want to keep it so i know where to run the wire....

let me know when you get it == i should have all or at least some of the tricks figured out by then.... :D

I guess the real question is how much song changing are you going to do, and is the wired remote enough? If so, go for the center console compartment. If no, perhaps a cupholder.

I think Alpine's coming out with a head unit that plugs in and actually will allow you to change songs/view currently playing song etc from the head unit itself, which would definately be pretty sweet, and allow you to use either the glove box or the center console to store it.

that would be really cool as i have an alpine head unit in now and its been great --

I really dont do a lot of song changing while driving -- i set up some play list with certain songs and worst comes to worst i will just ?it shuffle...

its funny because i got this thing as a gift and really didnt think i would like it -- but i gotta tell you --
i LOVE it -- :D

I love mine as well & also got it as a gift. Although it recently stopped working & I gott send it back to Apple

Anyway...I have the Belkin car kit & am going to wire it up using an aux. cig lighter under the center console & go from the line out on the Belkin to an aux input in my new head unit.

After trying almost every method of mounting, cell phone mount, flexible cell phone mount etc etc. Ive finally decided to just go with the cupholder mount.

It seems to be the only solution to keep it stable while wheelin' & still be able to get at the controls easily. Cheap too!

I use the itrip and just sit it in my cup holder, my cup holders have little rubber tabs (for smaller bottles and cans) that stabilize it perfectly and it is always within reach, i shuffle songs alot and switch cds on it a lot with out problems, and i dont have a remote for it

I know it's kind of in an odd place but how about under the lid of your center console? It would be out of sight and out of the sun. Maybe mount it with some velcro so that you could take it out while driving to more conviently look at it.

there has to be a way to mount it to the ashtray -- i saw a mount that basically covered the top vents -- i think thats silly -- but there has to be a way to mount it to the ashtray area --

i tried to talk zach into building one -- but i havent convinced him yet -- and most iPod owners have cars.... so ....

Hmm... I think I saw a PDA/cell phone mount that plugs in to the cigarette lighter and has a gooseneck up to the mount itself. It is self-powered for standard 12V power to whatever is in it... but I can't remember where I saw it at.

I'm thinking about getting one of the iPod minis. You folks having good luck with the iTrip, or do I need to figure on wiring it up to an Aux from the start? This would be pretty easy in the Jeep, but not so easy in my wife's car which has the factory radio.

Any thoughts, experiences with the iTrip?

Thanks.

i haven't had a problem with the Itrip, but I am sure having it directly wired would be better, since I have to get a new stereo, I am getting one with a auxilary port but its not a necessity

I have a 30g (G3) iPod and it sits above the stereo deck. I use a Mobile Phone clamp that has a suction cup, which I stick to the window. It holds up really well, just make sure you get a good suction. I connect the iPod directly into a Dual car stereo ($149.00 @ Best Buy). It has an RCA output and the wire comes out directly to the left of the dash (next to the deck). It is very easy to switch and find songs while in this position and it has great sound, alot better than it did with those darn FM transmitters I used to use, I hated all that static....

It provides a higher quality sound then it would with that aux port.

I use the transpod in my truck and rental cars, as soon as I get around to putting a new stereo in the heep it'll go there as well. In and out of too many vehicles to worry about hard wiring.

It does take a bit to get a clear station with no static, but once you find one, its good to go. The digital station display makes it a whole lot easier to get right.
