My AC compressor is turning itself on and off about every 25 seconds. The switch in the cab is OFF! When it doe this my oil pressure gauge also goes out, then kicks back to normal. This lights up my "Check Gauges" light on the dash. Any suggestions?

The A/C switch, I would imagine. I'm glad mine doesn't have air- less to go wrong.

Do you have the switch in the defrost mod?? that also triggers the A/C unit As for the other issues I have no clue.

By "Switch" I mean the dash switch/slidey thing that turns the AC to "On". Everything HVAC is turned off including the defrost. I wonder if a bad AC relay could be the culprit? .

Anyway............... I just bought this TJ last week. It spent it's life in VA and there is absolutely no rust on the frame. I get the biggest grin when I show the underneath side to friends. We are so use to crispy brown rust covering everything on 10 year old vehicles. I had an East Coast YJ and every bolt on the frame surface was coated with rust.

Problem solved. I was mistaken to post it was all in the OFF position. Cromwell was right and the defrost mode triggers the AC. I have never had a vehicle where this does this. Thanks for the help and my new education on Jeep AC!

But, if your compressor is cycling on/off every 25 seconds or so, the freon may be a bit low and the low pressure switch could be turning on/off because of it. Try running the A/C and see if it still cycles on/off, if so you may need to recharge the system and check for any leaks.

If you want to defeat the defrost A/C function and have it as an optional function, let me know. When I get back to the USA (in 3 weeks) and my files, I'll tell you know how to do it...
