why is it so difficult to find parts mainly motor parts not body for my 88yj. I need a starter solenoid relay. all I get is "nope not for an 88"
this has been quite frustrating.

Starter Solenoid for your import style starter should be any of these part numbers:

SS302
STS35
SD28341

Have your local auto parts store try and cross those numbers. Unless its a large store, you'll probably have to order those though, not many people "rebuild" starters anymore, they all just replace starters.

Quadratec is a great source for things like soleniods at a good price and shipped right to your door. I have given up on the local auto shops and try to avoid the high priced dealership. The local shops many times have kids that don't know much about parts in general, never mind the jeep specific parts. Gone are the days (in general), when the guy behind the counter of a small but complete shop (as opposed to the chains) was friendly and informative. Q-Tec for me fits that need and there is no driving involved. Yes there is the three of four day wait for the part.

i have also used the junkyard as a source for some of my rarer parts on my old 88..

XJs use a lot of the same part #s as the YJs so i would go and grab 2 or 3 of them for $5 at the u-pull-it.

yeah Im close to qtec, called them and also 4x4hdw, but as usual, No, not for the 88 yj 2.5
the info on the xj was good. ill look around. junk yards are well cleaned out around here. Ill keep looking

No I'm sorry that was the actual solenoid on the starter itself, the starter relay is:

20634
RL55211
SR123

Both should be readily available at NAPA. I have no problems finding parts for my 88YJ. Keep looking around for a good auto parts store. It is nearly 20 years old now.

hey ohio, I dont understand I cut and pasted your numbers each one individualy to napa and came up with nothing? what am I doing wrong? can these be rebuilt. someone form deja found the "same " one but had 4 spade attachemnts. mine only has three on right side and the bolt for battery went to three "salvage" yards as they wish to be called and nothing too
