This freakin Engine YJ

Had a blown 2.5. Purchased a remanufactured and got it all together with the headers etc. Tried to install it and for the life of me cannot get the transmission spline to line up with the clutch plate and get the engine it. I've removed the clutch and pressure plate, made sure the clutch fits into the spline. I've removed the pressure plate and new clutch and lined it up with the line up tool and I cannot get the engine to fit into the transmission spline. Do I need to drop the transmission? Real frustrated....

It sounds like you are doing everthing right. I know they can be a real pain sometimes. You may want to check the bushing or bearing what ever you have in the end of the crankshaft to see if the trans will slip into it. I had this problem once. It had the wrong bushing in it.
