Since the hurricane, the price of fuel over here is going through the roof. It's killing me !
(No doubt it's the same there....)
Has anyone heard of LPG conversions done on TJ's so that you can run LPG as well as regular fuel?
Any installation / performance issues?

I thought hurricanes were in the northern hemisphere and cyclones in the southern hemisphere... I would not think our recent hurricanes in the USA have effected fuel prices in Australia.
It seems LPG is a UK fuel. I will need to ask my petrolium engineering brother if he knows anything about LPG.
Here is a link for LPG (http://www.lpgaustralia.com.au/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=7) that I found for those who are in the dark about LPG as myself. ;) Here is another I found for LPG conversion (http://www.lpgautogas.com.au/index.cfm?Action=Convert).

Worked with LPG trucks in the 60's and fork lifts in the 80's-90's. LPG is aproximately 65% efficient compared to gasoline. Certainly not worth the cost of conversion!

Hey Tonka,
Since Katrina, world oil prices have significantly increased.
We have been paying about 30% more for fuel.
There's probably a bit of profiteering going on as well.
Not so bad for the little toyota drivers but it's been hurting me...
Having said that, the price would need to triple for me to get rid of my baby.
I know that cabbies have LPG because they do such high mileage and it obviously pays for itself...

I thought they called hurricanes "Willy Willies" or something like that down under.
Some benifites is a cleaner engine with LPG also and if LPG is less tha 50% the price of fuel but only give 35% less MPG then it might be worth it.

Hey 76CJ5
There are thes things called "willy willies" ! (cute name...) They're more like a squawl than a hurricane. They happen more out in the bush than on the coast. We do get tropical cyclones up the top end...they cause a bit of carnage from time to time.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have checked into it a bit more and basically one main issue is the placement of the LPG tank. Because it is such a compact vehicle, one would have to install an auxillary tank more forward in the vehicle to facilitate the installation of the LPG tank in the rear in order to run both fuels.
A whole heap of mucking around and cost.
Looks like its a no brainer.
