Ok i have put up with the many weebles and wobbles my TJ creates. And all the whistles, and loud noises and creaks. I mean its a jeep thing right? Well i was driving yesterday and went to slow down and turn and around 40 mph the jeep started to lose control. I pulled to the side of the road ASAP but the slower i went the more dramatic it would get until i would stop completely. The whole way home if i ever tried to reach of 40 mph it would start doin the same thing until i came to a stop. It was pure craziness i thought it was gunna flip!!! Anyways, i checked the air pressure in the tires and had to correct a little here and there. Everything else seems fine. It hasn't done it yet today, im taking my tires to get balanced though. I mean maybe if i had some REAL tires i wouldnt need to get them balanced and maybe if mattysuehurricne didnt hate on me i wouldnt have DEATH wobble. graemlins/bangwall.gif

2 things: Check the track bar and check the yoke on the rear end. I broke a center positioning tab on the yoke of my rear diff, allowing the u joint to slip over ab out an 1/8th of an inch causing a wicked wobble at 35-40 mph.
Just a thought (PS... I'm a YJ guy so the above may not apply to a TJ) but its worth a shot!

I've got pro comp 33x12.50s and when i got them i got an alignment at the same time and haven't had any wobble since. Matter of fact its never been smoother on the highway so i doubt it's because you don't have REAL tires. What do you do, just pretend you have tires?

I know my U-joint is bad, i need to change it soon, i didnt think it would cause such a crazy wobble though. And when i jack the jeep up there really isnt much play in the driveshaft. And the whole "REAL" tires thing is just a joke not to be taken seriously, but in all seriousness someone needs to make a REAL tire.

Also I have heard of unbalanced tires causing the wobble. I was getting for a bit. Just put new rubber on and so far so good. Only time will tell.

How about the front control arms (do you have stock or new ones with the lift?) and bushings, steering linkages and tierods, maybe the alighnment is off?
Have you changed anything lately in the suspension?

I get my tires balanced and it took it completely away. I did get new control arms with the lift and i checked the alignment and tierods and all that stuff and its all straight and tight so im guessing it was just the balance of the tires...it was a scary experience tho.

Ya it's NOT fun at all. I rank it right up there with the time I was driving down the highway and suddenly my AIRBAG light lights up. My buddy and I just scooted the seats back as far as they could go and braced for impact for about 5 miles. I had my arms all arounded like I was giving a bear a hug. Then the light turned off and I was fine.
