i take it you bought it used with the locker in it already??? if not you are a lil late getting to this site we would have told you to get it or get rid of the D 35 ;)

the super 35 kit comes with the locker and bigger axle shafts

if you do it you wont be able to use the locker that is currently in the jeep and could sell it

if you do buy it it could save you some wasted time(down time for the jeep and swaping in shfts that arnt broke)

BTW welcome to the board http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/psionandy/smiley/newbie.gif

You've already got the Detroit so all you need is new shafts and you'll have the Super 35. I wouldn't buy the kit, just the shafts.

Aren’t Super 35 shafts 30 spline?

I believe superior and yukon make hardened shafts that are stock specs. Try calling Randys Ring and Pinion, if QTec doesnt have it that is.

MOSER (http://www.moserengineering.com/) give them a call they will set u up

Yeah the Super 35 kit is 30 spline, factory is 27. So if you already have a locker, you won't be able to use it. Moser can make you shafts with the factory 27 spline, that will be marginally stronger. Moser doesn't really have a warranty on their shafts like a few other manufacturers do, however I ran them in both my Mustangs, and now in my Jeep, so far no problems.

That being said, I've learned my lesson with the 35, be careful about dumping money into it, as it is just something to get you by. I'm pretty easy on the gas, and I still think its not if a 35 will break, its when will it break.

You don't want to be in this situation:

It isnt that hard to fix it on the trail. It also isnt hard to find a set of stock 35 shafts to carry as spares. The trail repair experience is priceless anyway.

It isnt that hard to fix it on the trail.Assuming you are lucky enough to just break an axle. When I broke mine, it took me 7 hours of searching and phone calling to track down an axle shaft (jeep jamboree was even there that weekend). After all that it turned out I also distorted the carrier, and the center pin was now "(" shaped and was not removable, so my replacement shaft didn't help at all, there was no fixing it on the trail.

Leave the rearend as it is, meaning don't throw another dime into it, and start saving for a D44 or 8.8 upgrade. If you've got the coin and never want to worry about breakage problems ever again, get a 9".
