Actually I haven't seen a writeup on this yet, I've been meaning to do one, just haven't gotten around to it.

-Unbolt all but the top bolt of the diff cover, have drain pan ready.
-Loosen top bolt, but don't take it out.
-Pry cover up, usually you have to tap a small flat head screw driver between the cover and housing.
-Once most of the fluid drains out, remove top bolt.
-Spray everything good with brake cleaner.
-Clean diff cover with brake cleaner.
-Scrap off any old gasket, or silicone that is on the cover and the axle housing.
-Then one more time clean the cover with brake cleaner, and wipe with a clean rag.
-On the diff cover, run a continous bead of silicone (I prefer Ultra Blue from Permatex) on the inside of the bolt holes.
-Now smear that bead around with your finger, so that the whole mounting surface of the cover has a small film of silicone on it.
-Now spray brake cleaner on a rag, and wipe down the mounting surface of the pumpkin, do this usually twice to ensure its clean.
-Place two bolts in the cover before you set it up there, get the cover near the pumpkin and start the two bolts, now press the cover to the pumpkin and put all the bolts in finger tight.
-Then tighten them with a small rachet, these don't need to be lug nut tight, just snug.
-Let it setup for a few minutes, or more time if you have time.
-Refill.

-Notice I never mentioned using a gasket.

If you need the pictures, I'll probably have a writeup done by next weekend, as I'm going to be putting a posi in the Camaro this upcoming week. So I'll have pictures from that.
