I was looking at the Blue Beast today and thought about bedliner on parts of the body. I was thinking of the front part of the hood, the front part of the fenders, and the top edge of the tailgate. Anyone done this before or have any thoughts on it?? Thanks!
PS: Im assuming that prep for it is the same as Ohio's write up for the inside?

Preps the same, I used to work at a spray on liner place, and be aware places like the ones you mentioned will fade and oxidize VERY FAST, just FYI to think on. The black will turn a nasty dusty gray.

Really? Wow.. I guess I wont do that then. Why does it fade there but not in a truck bed since there in the sun a lot too?

It will fade everywhere due to use, dirt, and UV rays, but it will be much faster on the areas that are directly in the sun like that all the time, what most products dont avertise is that they are NOT uv stable, sooo a good selling point might be to look for one that is UV stable, even Rhino Liner(worst bedliner ever IMO) is not UV stable. Look at about a year old Rhino or Linex type liner and if theyve been under cover, brand new, open bed, gray and old.

If you are Herculining, they sell a UV coating for it, but I have only ever seen it on the Herculiner site - places like Quadratec do not sell it for some reason. Also, if you use any color besides black (like gray, red, or white), it is already UV resistant.

i saw a picture a while ago of someone that did the front of the hood and the grill. It looked pretty cool. This topic comes up about once every two months. do some searching and you should find some pictures.

Regarding the dusty blackness, I sprayed my dirty herculiner with armor all just for kicks when I was cleaning the dash, and it turned it that nice deep black again, without even having to wipe it or anything. Don't know how long it will stay that way, but the top has been off for 4 days now and its still clean and black. And it makes it a bit slick so don't put it where you would step.....

I have my jeep inside and outside Rhino lined it has been on for 3 years it has not faded and is easy to clean(Outside is Ford Toreador Red inside is charcoal with UV protection Line-X can also mix any color. I have put mine on is side, tried to move trees out of the way, had mud on it for days, oil, grease, gas, bird crap on it (no staining)and stones thrown at it by my 3 year old nephew and it has held up great. I think it all has to do with prep work, humidity and temperature. The guy in Pennsylvania (Kirk Strous of Summit Station Rhino Linings) that put mine on has a booth that is perfectly climate controlled and said that (and experience) is the different between a good job and a bad job.
(Just my 2 dollars )

I've seen this done afew times, coating the entire Jeep. I thought it was a good idea, and one I'll try someday. As was mentioned, prep. work is key, and experience helps. If your afraid of it getting faded, line it in a gray color, then you'll never notice.

I have my Jeep Scorpion lined on the outside, and it has a lifetime warranty against sun fading, scratches and a dozen other things.
