Well, I picked up a D44 out of a Grand Cherokee today from a junk yard. Picked it up for 100 bucks, and they pulled it. :D They origianlly wanted 450 and that was with me pullin it. I just couldn't pass it up. Prolly should have done some research but hey whatever.

It's got a 3.73 and disc brakes. yada yada yada.

Soooo, i'm gonna pull the D35 and put this puppy in there. My question is...Is there anything that I can leave on it, i.e...brackets and such? Or do I have to take it all off and weld on new brackets? Also, did I make a mistake for buying it without doing any research?

As always any advice is appreciated.

I found this (http://www.jeeptech.com/axle/d44.html) info. on jeeptech.com while checking to see if it's a straight swap. I can't offer any personal knowledge, but I thought you might want to see it.

"ZJ Dana 44
The ZJ Dana 44 is the only Jeep Dana 44 with an aluminum differential housing. It is also a C-clip axle with one piece shafts and a 5 on 4.5" wheel bolt pattern. Because of the aluminum housing and C-clips, it is not really any more desirable than a Dana 35c. The shafts are 30 spline."
