Well, I've pretty much decided on the BDS, 2" lift kit for my YJ. Now I need to find great pricing? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

Oh yeah, do you think I'll be okay without a CV shaft and slip yoke?

RockyMtnYJ, I'm thinking the same thing here with my stock 95 rio BDS sounds good if I could just find some where to get it.

You should not need a SYE with 2"

I bought my BDS lift semi-local at OK4WD in Stewartsville, NJ.

You can go to www.bds-suspension.com (http://www.bds-suspension.com) and look up or call them to find a local dealer.

Bob Supplee had the best pricing when I got mine. Do a search on here with his name and you'll find contact info.

No need for a SYE with the 2". I did end up doing a TC drop on mine to get rid of vibes though...

I truly appreciate all the leads fellas! I called Bob just now, and he's supposed to get back to me this afternoon. It's too bad Quadratec doesn't sell BDS lifts - *hint*

Conn Wilson at MigOffRoad (Lexington Kentucky, I order everything exclusively from him), will also get you what ever you need 859-225-JEEP. You don't need the SYE or CV shaft just for 2" of lift, make sure the 2" lift is what you want, as the 4" lift isn't much more.

Thanks! Well, it's a 4 banger and daily driver, so I am going for "sturdy" and "reliable" rather than making plans for the Rubicon trail. I just need to get down a bunch of mountain, jeep trails to my favorite fishing spots, etc, etc. I am thinking 31" tires at the MOST. More than likely, I'll be putting 30" on it.

I really wanted the RE extreme kit, but the cost is too high for me - especially when the shocks have to be purchased separately.

I remember, back in the day, when I had a 1982 Toyota P/U with 225s on it. I could go places with it that seemed inaccessible to many.

Holy Cow! I just called a local dealer that carries BDS lifts. First he quoted me a price for the parts that didn't seem so bad, but THEN when I asked how much to install it, he said "$508.00." I guess they live on a cancer surgeon's salary? I'll definitely be doing this myself!

Ok so I got to ask then, why not just a body lift to clear the tires?

Well...since ya gotta ask: *smiles*

It's simple. My suspension is 10 years old, and definitely not up to "off road" driving in rocky Colorado. I can get much more "value" out of a lift kit that has new (better) springs and new (better) shocks than I could ever get by having my stock springs re-arched. I don't see any reason to do a body lift at this point in time since the stock bushings are still holding up. Some day, I'll just replace them with better ones.

I like the "looks" of a really nice, lifted Jeep, however, for me it's not a practical expense. It would be extreme overkill, IMO, to put anything bigger than 31" tires on my rig since I'm just dealing with small rocks, ruts, snow, and some mild hill climbing. One rule of thumb that I've used for years when working on vehicles is that, other than a nice wax job, I won't spend money on things that aren't practical. I don't want a "pimp" mobile. Besides, I can take my extra cash and spend it on cigars and beer - which further enhance my mountain expeditions.

I'm thinking of going the same route -- 2" lift and 31s or 30s -- for a lot of the same reasons: it needs new springs anyway, I won't need an SYE or regear, don't have to worry about the D35 grenading. I learned the hard way how expensive bigger lifts wind up being.

Stupid question, but I've never figured it out: does BDS stand for Black Diamond or Big ****'s Suspension, or is it used for both?

BDS = Big ****'s Suspension
