There really isn't any such thing as the perfect on and off road Jeep. I have tried to build mine to have good offroad capabilities and still maintain roadability but it isn't perfect.

The most important thing is to decide ahead of time what you want. Then sit down and make a list of things it will take to get it there. There is nothing worse than buying a lift, or some other big dollar item, and then discovering it will not do what you really want. Ask alot of questions while planning it out and learn as much as possible. Most questions have been asked but not all. Use the search feature and ask for clarification on things you don't understand.

And welcome to the BB.

Just make sure you don't take the cheap and easy way out. You will regret it in the long run. Welcome.

Do you really need a new motor and transmission, how bad is your paint really? Off-roading is rough on the paint, so don't expect your paint to be perfect.

Just be careful you don't get it to nice, that you'll be scared to take it off-road.

Jeep wave from UT.

It is a good idea to find a group of people to wheel with and wheel your vehicle stock. For a few reasons...

1- This way you know what a stock vehicle is capable of, and then you might have a better idea of how far you want to take your Jeeps build. But I guess they say a Jeep is never done.

2- If you wheel with your buddies, you can see how their rigs are built. What works and what doesnt, what you like and what you dont.

3- When you find your stock Jeeps limits, you wont be alone. You will have buddies to pull you out, turn wrench with you, or give you driving tips. But make sure that if they help you, you help them. And drink beer together once in a while, but not while wheeling.

Good luck.
