Meh. I think it'd be a big hassle to open up the hood every time you wanted to do that. Espeicially if you're using it for theft deterence. Pretty easy to override and a pain to use. They are cheap, though, and might be good for an easy diconnect of the battery if the Jeep sits a lot.
Just my opinion.

well, my main reason for getting one is that right now i have an electrical gremlin.. i have been trying to adjust my carb and after many starts, i hear a click and have to disco the positive cable.. pain in the ass to do that.. so with this, i can just unscrew and then screw it back on..
i am only planning on doing this temporarily in case i get stranded and so i dont have to pull the tools out.. i do want to fix the gremlin.
I have the regular cut off switch mounted under the body.

I use them on heavy equipmnet every day. We use them mostly for safety when the equipment sits and a child who can't resist plays in the machine. Not all of them have keys. They are simple dependable and work.

You know you can just cruise down to your local auto parts store and get those for that price right? I know AutoZone has them.
What about an actual cut-off switch, that you can mount somewhere like on the fender or inside the vehicle, they make them both with and without keys, so you can just turn a key or switch to connect the battery, and can do so without popping the hood:

They are simple dependable and work. Our newer combat vehicles have one (in addition to another master killswitch in the cab). The one I am speaking of is designed to have a padlock put on it. Not a bad idea.
