1.) hey, i heard from a friend that my removal of the sway bar may wear bearings, bushings, joints, and other components alot faster then with the sway bar. andything in particular i should be watching out for?

2.) my front diff has a guey-silvery-ness in the fluid. is this do to my gears grinding up front? anyone have this problem?

3.) when i use my breaks...a "thump!" happens once...it is rather loud and i'm hoping it's just the break drum. anyone have similar problems? if i break super lightly it sometimes doesn't happen...and doens't happen when i downshift.

4.) i read that removing the track bar increases front flex up to 31%. what would the downsides be?

5.) what kind of tranny and t-case does my jeep some with? never had a manual.

6.) someone i know had a snorkel on his tj 6 cylinder. he took it off and said he could feel a considerable increase in power without it. i thought the snorkel was supposed to increase airflow over stock. is he just stupid?

track bar or sway bar if its the sway bar get disconnectsz and then drive it connected on the street and disconnected on the trail

5.) what kind of tranny and t-case does my jeep some with? never had a manual. probably an ax 5 trans and an np231 t case

The snorkel is designed to allow for water fjording by raising the level of the air intake. This also creates a very restrictive air flow route to the intake. by removing it he has increased the speed that the air flows into the engine which may result in an increase in performance

1) removing the swaybar wont wear anything more than having it on there. It will let the body lean more when you take turns which is why most only disconnect it for off road use.

2) Some glitter is normal, change the fluid and while you have the cover off look for any abnormal wear, then keep an eye on it.

3) Not sure on this one, could be alot of things, check all brake components and see if anything jumps out at ya. Get back to us if you cant find anything, try to narrow down the noise/symptoms a bit.

4) Removing the trac bar will free up some flex, but give you a more vague feeling on the road. Some done mind it, some do. Try it and see how you like it.

5) You have an AX5 transmission with a NP231 transfer case.

6) Hard to say. Restrictions in airflow can come from bends in the piping, size differences changing velocity, and a bunch of other things. Maybe he even had a dirty filter. Too many variables to say for sure.

^^I'll second everything kwrangln said. :D

Removing my track bar while SUA did give it a bit more vauge feeling on the road, but it made a huge difference in the flex, my front suspension wouldn't hardly flex at all until I removed the track bar.

thanks guys. i'll try to get more sy,ptom descriptons...hard to put it into words really...i'll talk to friends and see how they'd describe it. is there anything i can do to increase rear flex?? i was being stupid on a tree trunk dirt pile thing yesterday and when i went up it, my right rear tire went right off the ground...anything i can do to enhance the rear?? i'll try taking the track bar off today maybe...depends on how smoothly my new cat back installs.

Torch and a steady hand are your friend for the cat back install.

Pulling the trac bar will help alot with flex. When mine was stock flexing one tire up would lift a rear tire before the other side hit the bumpstop till the trac bar was removed.

Yeah, with leaf springs a track bar is not required. I don't think Jeeps even ran one until YJ's. May be wrong on that one, but my 78 didn't have one. It should help flex a little bit.

Getting softer (more flexy) springs will help a lot too. Depending on what height you're shooting for and how much you're willing to pay, I'd recommend Rubicon MFG (Rubicon Express) springs. They are pricey but damn are they nice springs. To be honest though, getting flex is a good thing, but not the end all of off road ability. I'd take a locked Jeep with stock'ish flex over a super flexy Jeep with no traction aids.
