Ok I'm confused what should I do? I had thought about buying a 2 inch BDS lift and also 1 or 1 1/4 greasable lift shackles. How tall will the 2 inch lift actually lift my YJ, I have heard it will actually be 2 1/2. Is this true? I would like to end up with 3 inch of lift. what combination of shackles and suspension would I need to use. I'm really wanting to use BDS and all they offer is 2 inch or 3.5 in the range that I want. If I went with the 3.5 how tall would it actually be? and what all would I have to change besides the kit. Any help or idea are very much appreciated. I am planning on running 31 tires. anybody got any pictures of YJ's with 2 inch or 3 inch BDS lift. thanks

The kit will come with everything you need.

2" BDS lift will normally be 2.5"-3", both RE and BDS run a little tall, espeically when new. Once they break in some you will be closer to the 2"-2.5" figure.

BDS and RE lifts can be as much as 1" taller than advertised, but it will settle out.

If you go with the 3.5" you'll probably want to stay with stock shackles, otherwise it will be pretty tall.

I got around 3.5" with my 2" BDS and 5/8 MORE boomerang shackles. It's settled a little bit over the year it's been on, but I still run 32's with VERY light contact at full stuff. A 1" BL would be perfect to allow them to clear fully. I'll look around and see if I can find any decent pics of it...

thanks OhioYJ and KMcL for your replies think I'll just start with the 2 inch for now and maybe shackles later when they settle down. Would still like to see pictures.

Actually, you'll need new shackles to clear the military wrap springs on the BDS kit. I'll try to remember to get some pics in the daylight tomorrow...

Glad I could help. Remember to go with the bigger shackles to clear the military wrap on the springs.

Remember to go with the bigger shackles to clear the military wrap on the springs. For me the angled shackles front and rear gave me a better ride over standard shackles.
