I just got my new stainless door hinges yesterday and mangaged to replace the driver side hinges. The problem is one of the bolts on the passenger door hinge, the torx pattern doesn't look much like a torx anymore due to my unknown strength,j/k. Any advice how to get this out? Also has anyone purchased a CatchAll rear liner for their YJ, is it shaped for a trans tunnel or is it flat, cause the floor is flat behind my console, I just wanted to make sure before finding out that it doesn't fit.thx.

First, get good torx bits. This is a must. Next, do you have access to an impact gun? If so, turn the air on the gun down and let it hammer a few times. Turn it up one notch and try again. Lean into the gun as hard as you can while doing this. The hammer action will generally break the bolt loose. If you don’t have access to the impact gun, try to find the hand impact wrench. You smack those with a hammer to break the bolt loose. If you strip the head of the torx out, now you have problems and you have to drill it out. Or tack weld a nut on it to get it out.

This works most every time.

Seems like it was about $20 at Pep Boys.

as said above, a good torx set that does not strip itself, and an impact gun will take you very far.

Use some valve grinding compound on the torx bit it will help it grip the screw head.

I covered my Jeep in stainless too. My initial optimism combined with a $5 set of torx head screwdrivers all on one Swiss-army-knife-looking handle resulted in some seriously stripped bolt heads. I later found that the impact wrench worked like a charm. To get a hold of the ones I'd already stripped I had to hammer a bigger torx into the bolt.

If you have a dremil, cut a slit so you can use a flat head...if its still striped get a drillout bit ($20 sears hardware) drill a hole in the head of the screw, then drill into it with the drillout bit. (it has left handed threading and is shaped like a cone so it will actually drill the screw out.) I had the same problem with the same screw....
