Anyone ever had problems with the fan on their heater? Mine works on high but not on the middle setting.

Many years ago I had a Datsun with the same problem and found it had a coil spring that acted as a resister which had broken. I was able to reconnect it and fix the problem. Is there something like that on a Jeep? If so, where would I find it.

I need to try and get this fixed tomorrow since I'm heading up to Yzergod's ranch and I just heard they have snow.

Sounds like the resistor went bad. Should be able to pick one up at the dealer. Prolly about $15, and it should only take a minute to change out.

Where is it located?

I second the blower motor resistor. I'm not entirely sure on the Wranglers but on the Cherokees its ontop the box that houses the heater core/blow motor/AC stuff under the dash.

The switch or resistor died.

Yeah, it'll be under the dash, somewhere near the heater box. It *should* be fairly easy to get to. Prolly behind the glovebox. It'll have a connector plugged into it with about 4 wires.

Here is the quote from the haynes manual as to the location (sorry no pic on p 12-38)

Blower resistor )behind right speaker grille above airvent door on blower housing).

I think it's just inside/above that vent thingy on the pass. side. You should be able to remove the vent fairly easily.

The plug that goes into that resistor has a history of melting the ends, check it too. Fix is to cut it off and splice spade connectors on it.

Thanks for all the input. It was alot easier than I expected. Evidently when I was running speaker wires or removing the sound bar or something I must have pulled on it because it was unplugged. I plugged in the connector and it worked. 2 minute fix. :D
