Hey has anyone here gotten tires at walmart before? I went up tonight to get some tires. First off they only had 1 set in my size, i really needed some tires for winter so i got them even thou they were el cheapo. The guy says it will be an hour so i go off to shop.

I hear my name over the pa being paged back there and this guy who must have wheighed liek 300lbs said i tried to break your lugs free and i couldnt get the first couple i tried loose so we wont do your tires. hes like you have to break them all free then we will do them. well i didnt have my tools with me so i got mad bought the tires and left.
So now i have to go find some one to mount them for me. I was soo mad! I really shoudl ahve went to a tire store i guess. I was just wonderin if anyone else had problems with them. I bud i had just got tires there and had to do the same thing because they wouldnt mount his tires. Why even have a tire center if you cant do the work there?
Sorry had to vent my local automotive places are really bugging me lately. Makes me wanna open my own shop up.

I actually worked at wal mart for a few months and you're right they do suck.. it not that they cant do it they just dont want to.. Our bosses would bull**** times, tell people we couldnt do it because of some lame problem whatever you know... the truth is that they just want to be lazy..... I would NEVER take anyone of my vehicles there for anything... I know how it works... they dont care about there work....

Yeah thats kind of what i figured. Too lazy! So ill just break them all free and grease and clean up the studs then go back up. I thought i coudl ahve a buddy do it for me but i guess he got in trouble the last time he mounted tires at work for somebody. Yeah If i haddent been soo pisse dand not thinking clearly i wouldnt have bought the tires i would have went someplace else and got real tires.

Walmart is lame. When we ordered my tires the manager signed a paper that said they would only charge me like 500 not 570. When the tires got there and after they got put on the people working there refused to give us the price we we garunteed. They were like half-****** their job until my dad goes "Well we'll pay your price but will never buy here again." So after that they got right to work!! smile.gif

It's probably better that they told you instead of just forcing it loose. I had a similar problem when I took my Durango there for an oil chance and tire rotation. Apparently my lug nuts were frozen on. After looking at them it looks like they were cross threaded from a previous rotation I had done there. Anyway...instead of telling me they were having a problem they just muscled them off and broke 3 lugs off, 2 on one wheel and 1 on another. These guys didn't even tell me about it! They actually JB Welded them back on!

I've bought my last 2 sets of MT/Rs from Wal Mart and have been pretty happy with their price and road hazard warrantty. I've never had a problem making a claim with them and I'm running my tires primarially offroad on bead locks.

JB Weld'ed lugs back on? That is pitiful. That could have killed someone. Please tell me you made them press new lugs and splitted some wigs.

Geez.... Sounds like I will never get any more work done at Wal-Mart.

I had an old change done there once on my Cherokee. A few days later, my heater control valve started leaking. I suspect they knocked into it when taking the filter out since it's kind of in the way. Luckily it was replaced less than a year earlier and I got it replaced under warranty from the shop that did the work.

Went to Walmart to get a battery for a 96 xj they said that they didnt stock that one for the Jeep an that they would have to special order it. I ask you dont stock batterys for Jeeps ? They said yes they were differant an that they all had to be special ordered. Just turned around an walked out .

I am actually tempted to just take the rims off my jeep and take them up there in my dads truck. Just so they cant give me that we cant move the lugs crap again.

I didnt realize they did this till we went to trade the D in a couple days after I had the oil changed. The dealership put it up on the rack and pulled the wheels off to check the brakes and noticed the problem. I guess I have no proof that Wal Mart did this, but since they were the only ones who had done anything with the wheels...I guess you can make youor own judgement.

Well i easily broke all the lugs free this afternoon with a rachet. SOme of them were so loose i was almost afraid frankly. Just goes to prove they didnt even try to loosen them. I went back up tonight and was liek you guys couldnt break my lugs i just did it by hand easily plus i sprayed break free on them after only snuggin them up loosely. SO if you cant get them off this time i brought my tools and ill go out in the parking lot and take the damn things off!

Long story short another 65 bucks later they are on and the jeep doesnt wabble so much anymore. They look liek crap since they are 215 and i had 225 on before plus they are a walmart brand light truck tire. SInce that was all they had in stock and i didnt wanna wait any longer for new tires.

If i keep her ill put some bf ats on after a small lift heheheheh. but for now these will do provided i stay on the road.

Plain and simply: Walmart sucks .

BUT, Sam's has great deals on tires and awesome service. That is where I get all my DD tires. Also, they rotate the tires you buy there for free and fix flats for free.
They've got my vote.

Yea my girlfriend left her car at walmart to get work done to it. Forget what all she got done but she came home and said she was hearing some wierd noises. I went out there and a ******* wrench was bouncing around under her hood. It had gotten stuck in one of the belts and the belt was just about broke in half. Took it back up there and raised some hell. The manager was a idiot though!

Yeah well im doing a brake job tomorrow so ill see if there is anything left in there. Frankly i had better check and make sure the lugs are tight. I hate having to take one of my vehicles to the shop period. I prefer to do my own work whenever time and weather permits.

I work at Sam's. Even if I didn't work there I'd get me tires there. The people there are knowledgable and you can't beat the service. If you ever have a problem it WILL be fixed, no questions asked.

No Costco around here yet, but when I lived in NY that was the only place I shopped (there wasn''t a Sam's there untill I left). They didn't have tire centers when I left.

Why is it crazy? I mean granted after the service i got i wont ever go there again. But in all honesty there are only a couple other places in the are to get tires, and at a private tire shop i would have had to pay 2xs what it cost to get a tire mounted. One place i checked charged 25 dollars a tire just for a balance. Walmart seemed the best price wise guess thats why thier service sucked thou. Aside from that they do have a good selection of tires , at least that you can order. The store was out of anything but the road tires i got. I am very glad i did get the tires thou since we have got close to 2 ft of snow this weekend and its still falling fast.

They've got my vote. Being that you work there, I'd think you'd know that Wal*Mart and Sam's Club are the same company. I'd wonder how the company value to customer service would differ.

Obviously in any retail/service environment, your service can change from store to store. But from the business standpoint, the company's core values should have certain expectations on all of their stores/chains. Sounds like a big problem with upper (regional) management. I knew a manager at a Wal*Mart and his store is night and day from the Wal*Mart the next town over.

I can't argue the many, many americans that just will not step foot in a Wal*Mart for a number of reasons.

[/QB]The main difference between walmart and Sam's is that walmart caters more to the low to middle class while Sam's caters to the middle to high class. Sam's is a members only Club that members pay to belong to. Walmart allows anybody to walk in off the street to shop there. People expect more if they have to pay to shop and they get it. At Sam's it truely is Members First because most of the profit is in membership fees. If a member gets mad they can get thier membership refunded and/or won't renew. This equals loss of profit and therefore highlights the need to keep the members satisfied.
Walmart on the other hand does not need to keep everyone happy. If one person gets mad and decides not to shop there, someone else will take his place. They really don't care about thier customers.

Your education for the day, Knucklehead. Maybe some of it will get through?

@DK

Believe me, it is crazy! :D
You can buy so many different things in WAL MART, if you tell that in Gemany all people would say: TIRES AT WAL MART IS CRAZY!!!
But if the tires work, why shouldn`t you buy them there... It`s okay... ;)
