I have a 3 year old standard 17" monitor and I think I screwed it up. My heat did not come on last night so it was around 35 degrees in the office this morning and the monitor did not want to come on until I got the temp to around 50 degrees. Now the monitor seems darker than normal and does not seem to be getting better. Is it beyond hope or will it be OK after being warm for a day or so??

I don't think so, I'd rather go with some freak coincidence.
I have been hauling computers and monitors around in unheated moving trucks on lower temperatures (-20C), for longer hours (12-20), and nothing happened.

could be. if it persists.
Standard rule of thumb is dont turn heavy electronics on until at least 55 degrees. smile.gif
Hey Zach,
I have 2, maybe 3, extra plain ole' 17" monitors in the attic of the shed.
Next time your in the neighborhood let me know and I'll give you a spare or 2.
They aren't worth anything but if you can get some use out of them let me know.
I picked them up when a local office went belly up a few years back. Picked up a whole truck load of computer junk for $100...lol.
I figured I'd keep them as spares for the kids monitors.

sounds like a tube went out, more expensive to fix than replace the whole unit
